MADISON, Ill. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, eighth annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, amount over/under index, and position in order following run, class and class index:

Left Lane: Ray Skillman Runs 8.146/163.18/-0.474, Now #2 C/EA Index: 8.62
Right Lane: Gary Coccaro Runs 8.636/158.91/-0.584, Now #1 H/AA Index: 9.22

9:13 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 65 percent, barometer 29.36 inches, adjusted altitude 2,668 feet, track temperature 79 degrees.

Coccaro makes a good run out of the box to start this session.
