MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 35th annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: John Headley Runs 13.639/65.08, Now #10; No Prior Run

3:19 p.m. - Headley did not make a run in the first session yesterday so he needed a full run to make the field. There is not a full field so Headley just took a slow cruise down the track to put himself in the 10th spot in the order for now.

Left Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.560/260.76, Now #4; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Phil Burkart Runs 5.544/264.70, Now #3; Best prior run: 13.239/61.39, Was #9

Pomponio did not get a time in the first session yesterday so he was not in the field. Both drivers had clean runs down the groove and both are in the top half of the field for now.

Left Lane: DJ Cox Jr. Runs 5.523/267.00, Now #4; Best prior run: 10.298/104.65, Was #10
Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.464/268.49, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.619/268.33, Was #7

Both drivers went straight down the groove and both moved up in the qualifying order.

Left Lane: Chris Marshall Runs 5.505/263.98, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.745/225.33, Was #9
Right Lane: Fred Tigges Runs 5.624/258.91, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.581/262.64, Was #7

Marshall and Tigges took their cars down the groove. Marshall moved up five spots in the order and pushed Tigges down one spot.

Left Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.443/267.59, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.400/270.70, Was #1
Right Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 8.706/103.06, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.502/270.27, Was #3

Westerfield's car launched, shook the rear tires and bounced its way down the track until he clicked it off. Hough had a clean run but was already in the number one spot in the qualifying order so he could not improve.
