Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #1

JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual Route 66 NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 7.435/145.28, Now #2
Right Lane: Marc Ingwersen Runs 7.055/191.32, Now #1

5:29 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 47 percent, barometer 29.13 inches, adjusted altitude 3,367 feet, track temperature 110 degrees.

Ray had problems and was off the throttle early. Ingwersen makes a clean pass.

Left Lane: Andie Rawlings No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Jianna Salinas Runs 6.989/190.97, Now #1

Rawlings leaves before the tree is activated and receives no time. Salinas goes down the groove with the first six second run of her career.

Left Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.987/193.16, Now #1
Right Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 19.922/26.98, Now #5

Clontz has problems about 100 feet out and sits up on the bike. Pollacheck makes a clean pass to take the early pole.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.343/139.14, Now #5
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.901/195.96, Now #1

Smith goes down the groove with a good run to take the top spot for now. Johnson had problems about 800 feet out, smoke and oil coming from his engine, and he sits up on the bike. the bike drifts to the right in the shutdown area and he passes Smith on the right side.

This is Johnson's first oildown and he will be charged five points.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.849/197.54, Now #1
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 6.867/195.36, Now #2

Arana goes right down the groove with a good pass to take the top spot for now. Sampey makes a decent pass and gets in the second spot for now.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.976/194.32, Now #5
Right Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 6.951/196.27, Now #4

Oehler makes a decent pass and gets in the fourth spot for now. Stoffer makes a clean pass and gets in the fifth spot for now.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.842/198.64, Now #1
Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.872/197.54, Now #4

Arana gets out of the groove and drifts toward the centerline but stays on the throttle and makes a good pass. Smith goes down the groove with a good pass to take the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.845/197.33, Now #2
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.890/196.99, Now #6

Krawiec makes a decent pass and gets in the second spot to end this session. Hines makes a clean run and gets in the sixth spot.
