JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual Route 66 NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Right Lane: Andrew Bohl Runs 5.775/259.36, Now #1 Bohl was real loose at the hit, but stayed with it... Left Lane: Bob McCosh Runs 8.404/111.34, Now #3 Right Lane: Terry Ruckman Runs 5.595/266.06, Now #1 Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 60 percent, barometer 29.19 inches, adjusted altitude 2,819 feet, track temperature 108 degrees. McCosh with tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off. Ruckman was straight down the groove with a good clean pass to start the weekend. He makes his quickest and fastest pass of the season. Terry Ruckman's incremental times: 60ft-1.002 sec., 330ft-2.552, 660ft-3.739/208.84 mph, 1,000ft-4.747. Left Lane: Chip Beverett Runs 9.470/122.20, Now #5 Right Lane: Kris Hool Runs 5.619/261.42, Now #2 Beverett shook right at the hit and clicked it off. Hool is competing in the All Stars this year and starts with a good clean pass... Left Lane: Tyler Scott Runs 5.594/265.33, Now #1 Right Lane: Chris Foster Runs 5.658/258.27, Now #4 Scott launched hard and was straight down the groove..he had a lot engine smoke right in the lights. Tyler Scott's incremental times: 60ft-1.017 sec., 330ft-2.556, 660ft-3.741/210.18 mph, 1,000ft-4.746. Foster is competing in the All Stars this year. He has a clean pass to start the weekend. Left Lane: Chris Marshall Runs 8.069/0.00, Now #7 Right Lane: Ray Drew Runs 7.836/119.54, Now #6 Marshall is competing in the All Stars this year. He has tire shake right at the hit and clicks it off. Drew is competing in the All Stars this year, also. He shook and shut it off. Left Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 5.485/268.87, Now #1 Right Lane: Ulf Leanders Runs 5.516/263.67, Now #2 Westerfield is competing in the All Stars this year. Whiteley is competing in the All Stars this year. She launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot.
