Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #3

DINWIDDIE, Va. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Second annual Virginia NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.426/208.23, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.017/309.77, Was #11
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 4.170/296.96, Now #15; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 90 degrees, relative humidity 43 percent, barometer 29.75 inches, adjusted altitude 3,023 feet, track temperature 134 degrees.

Pedregon lost traction early and clicked it off.

Haddock making his first pass this weekend and he is straight down the groove into the show at number 15.

Left Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 4.400/203.61, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.003/315.27, Was #9
Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 4.054/314.90, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.045/316.23, Was #13

Alexander started to haze the tires and clicked it off.

Tasca kept it hooked up and was straight down the groove. Bob Tasca III's incremental times: 60ft-0.912 sec., 330ft-2.330, 660ft-3.285/270.32 mph.

Left Lane: Robert Hight Runs 4.513/191.32, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.967/326.32, Was #5
Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.490/199.08, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.029/310.05, Was #12

Hight lost traction early and clicked it off.

Wilkerson unveiled his new paint scheme on his new Ford yesterday and it was just announced he is the Best Appearing Car this weekend. He starts to lose traction and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 10.786/72.63, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.964/316.45, Was #4
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.035/310.77, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.978/316.38, Was #6

Langdon is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off.

Todd launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the quickest pass of the session. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.880 sec., 330ft-2.293, 660ft-3.254/268.12 mph.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.128/253.42, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.927/321.50, Was #3
Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 10.071/67.29, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.005/320.28, Was #10

Capps was on a good pass until it started to haze the tires on the top end.

Beckman was up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 4.029/314.68, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.922/323.58, Was #2
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.045/315.64, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.001/320.51, Was #8

This was a good side-by-side drag race.

Johnson kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to make the quickest pass of the session. Tommy Johnson Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.286, 660ft-3.252/268.60 mph.

Hagan was right there with him to make the third quickest and the fastest pass of the session. Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.899 sec., 330ft-2.301, 660ft-3.269/266.74 mph.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 4.205/237.92, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.899/321.88, Was #1
Right Lane: Jonnie Lindberg Runs 4.057/316.15, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.001/322.04, Was #7

Force was on a good pass until he started to haze the tires and clicked it off.

Lindberg is straight down the groove with the fifth quickest pass of the session. Jonnie Lindberg's incremental times: 60ft-0.890 sec., 330ft-2.310, 660ft-3.284/266.64 mph.
