DINWIDDIE, Va. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Second annual Virginia NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Bob Rahaim Runs 7.456/125.23, Now #19; Best prior run: 9.966/90.15, Was #20
Right Lane: Eric Latino Runs 9.310/91.50, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.885/244.83, Was #13

Weather conditions: air temperature 87 degrees, relative humidity 46 percent, barometer 29.76 inches, adjusted altitude 2,792 feet, track temperature 124 degrees.

Rahaim started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Latino with tire shake at the hit and clicked it off.

Little is straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show.

Winters with his quickest pass, but just misses getting in the show.

This is a good side-by-side drag race in the heat of the day.

Laughlin launched hard and kept it hooked up to move from the outside of the show into the top half of the show. Alex Laughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.013 sec., 330ft-2.676, 660ft-3.905/209.75 mph, 1,000ft-4.951.

Snider is straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend, but still gets bumped back one spot by LAughlin. Brandon Snider's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.563, 660ft-3.829/195.11 mph, 1,000ft-4.916.

Left Lane: Chip King Runs 5.894/247.66, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.893/239.14, Was #16
Right Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 5.817/257.58, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.829/256.84, Was #9

King is straight down the groove and is just a tick off his qualifying time. He holds on to the bump. Chip King's incremental times: 60ft-1.014 sec., 330ft-2.652, 660ft-3.917/196.27 mph, 1,000ft-4.991.

Matusek kept it hooked up to move into the top half of the show. Steve Matusek's incremental times: 60ft-1.015 sec., 330ft-2.673, 660ft-3.900/201.16 mph, 1,000ft-4.943.

Left Lane: Steve Jackson Runs 5.789/250.04, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.791/239.87, Was #4
Right Lane: Jose Gonzalez Runs 8.798/112.45, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.806/256.60, Was #6

Jackson launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the quickest pass of the weekend and the quickest pass of the session. He will stay in the number four spot. Steve Jackson's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.582, 660ft-3.820/197.77 mph, 1,000ft-4.888.

Gonzalez with severe tire shake and clicked it off.

Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 5.774/257.28, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.787/256.31, Was #3

Ray with tire shake and clicked it off.

alBalooshi kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.623, 660ft-3.857/201.73 mph, 1,000ft-4.899.

Castellana with a great pass to move up the ladder three spots. Mike Castellana's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.576, 660ft-3.827/198.00 mph, 1,000ft-4.894.

Tutterow with his quickest pass of the weekend, but stays in the number three spot. Todd Tutterow's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.557, 660ft-3.811/197.31 mph, 1,000ft-4.881.

Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 5.835/245.14, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.804/248.43, Was #6
Right Lane: Sidnei Frigo Runs 5.799/256.60, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.774/256.02, Was #2

Janis with a good clean pass, but no help. Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.565, 660ft-3.828/195.36 mph, 1,000ft-4.915.

Frigo with another great pass, but will not improve and stay in the number two spot. Sidnei Frigo's incremental times: 60ft-1.004 sec., 330ft-2.646, 660ft-3.878/202.15 mph, 1,000ft-4.921.
