Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

DINWIDDIE, Va. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Second annual Virginia NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Lex Joon Runs 5.107/138.76, Now #12; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 90 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 29.56 inches, adjusted altitude 3,200 feet, track temperature 123 degrees.

Joon making his first pass today...he is dropping cylinders right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Cameron Ferre Runs 4.303/199.37, Now #12; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 4.124/287.60, Now #11; No Prior Run

Ferre is making his first pass of the day. He is mixing up cylinders and clicks it off, but goes to the number 12 spot.

Mercier is also making his first pass of the season. He is straight down the groove to go to the number 11 spot.

Left Lane: Ike Maier Runs 5.740/117.26, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.247/101.10, Was #16
Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 3.754/323.04, Now #2; Best prior run: 12.464/72.16, Was #17

Maier is dropping cylinders early and he clicks it off.

Salinas launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Mike Salinas' incremental times: 60ft-0.825 sec., 330ft-2.123, 660ft-3.013/286.62 mph.

Left Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 3.886/321.65, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.937/317.19, Was #11
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 3.824/324.83, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.916/113.72, Was #17

Palmer is straight down the groove improving on his pass from earlier today, but will stay in the number 11 spot. Scott Palmer's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.222, 660ft-3.134/280.54 mph.

Prock kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to move into the top half of the show. Austin Prock's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.157, 660ft-3.075/280.14 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.773/321.81, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.873/318.99, Was #10

Torrence was straight down the groove, hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.140, 660ft-3.028/286.07 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.425/177.95, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.843/317.94, Was #9
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.812/319.75, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.906/317.05, Was #12

Brown launched hard, but then overpowered the track before he clicked it off.

Torrence with s real nice pass to move into the top half of the show. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.172, 660ft-3.064/284.39 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.811/320.51, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.813/320.05, Was #8
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.772/319.98, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.871/313.07, Was #11

McMillen is straight down the groove and improves a couple ticks from his pass earlier today. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.159, 660ft-3.059/281.77 mph.

Force with a great pass to move into the top half of the show. she kept it hooked up all the way down the track. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.135, 660ft-3.026/285.59 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.783/323.81, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.801/318.62, Was #7
Right Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 4.615/166.13, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.796/314.83, Was #6

Kalitta was straight down the groove, hitting on all eight to move up the ladder two spots. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.156, 660ft-3.040/286.44 mph.

Crampton started to haze the tires and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Clay Millican No Time, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.749/325.30, Was #1
Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 4.877/147.97, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.793/321.58, Was #6

Millican decides to pull out of line and will not make this run.

Pritchett is up in smoke just past 330 feet and clicks it off.

Millican holds on to the number one spot with his track E.T. pass from earlier today.
