COMMERCE, Ga. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 39th annual Arby's NHRA Southern Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jim Whiteley Runs 5.954/240.59, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.993/241.15, Was #15
Right Lane: Rick Hord Runs 5.947/251.06, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.666/128.29, Was #23

Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 75 percent, barometer 29.13 inches, adjusted altitude 2,832 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

Whiteley is straight down the groove to get in the show. Jim Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.614, 660ft-3.911/190.81 mph, 1,000ft-5.019.

Hord with his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. Rick Hord's incremental times: 60ft-1.028 sec., 330ft-2.707, 660ft-3.978/197.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.048.

Whiteley kept it hooked up to get in the show. Steven Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.605, 660ft-3.881/194.80 mph, 1,000ft-4.963.

Matusek with his quickest pass of the weekend, but just misses getting in the show. Steve Matusek's incremental times: 60ft-1.022 sec., 330ft-2.715, 660ft-3.973/196.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.041.

King with severe tire shake and clicked it off.

Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 5.871/255.53, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.997/254.62, Was #21

Castellana launched hard and kept it hooked up to get into the top half of the show. Mike Castellana's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.614, 660ft-3.876/196.13 mph, 1,000ft-4.952.

Enders with a great pass to get in the show. Erica Enders' incremental times: 60ft-1.018 sec., 330ft-2.694, 660ft-3.933/199.70 mph, 1,000ft-4.987.

Left Lane: Brandon Snider Runs 5.851/243.77, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.918/240.72, Was #18
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 5.878/253.14, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.950/247.93, Was #21

Snider was completely sideways on the burnout and backup and did another one. He was straight down the groove to get into the top half of the show. Brandon Snider's incremental times: 60ft-0.972 sec., 330ft-2.565, 660ft-3.838/193.99 mph, 1,000ft-4.929.

alBalooshi with his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-1.016 sec., 330ft-2.687, 660ft-3.929/199.61 mph, 1,000ft-4.987.

Left Lane: Bob Rahaim Runs 5.915/244.12, Now #19; Best prior run: 5.904/245.40, Was #18
Right Lane: Doug Winters Runs 5.840/251.16, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.914/243.90, Was #19

No help here for Rahaim and he will be down to one more shot to get in the show.

Winters with appears to have used up an engine as there is a lot of smoke on the top end. It is his quickest pass of the weekend and he gets in the show. The word from the top end is there is oil on the track. Doug Winters was charged with an oildown, #2 for the season. That will cost 10 points.

Right Lane: Michael Biehle No Time, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.900/251.86, Was #18

Gonzalez with tire shake and clicks it off.

Biehle rolls the beam and he will not get a time.

Smith with another good pass, but will not improve. Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.024 sec., 330ft-2.683, 660ft-3.932/199.46 mph, 1,000ft-4.992.

Latino with another good pass, but will not improve and will not get back in the show. Eric Latino's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.609, 660ft-3.890/194.24 mph, 1,000ft-4.979.

Frigo with his quickest pass of the weekend, but will stay in the number six spot. Sidnei Frigo's incremental times: 60ft-1.025 sec., 330ft-2.665, 660ft-3.904/200.83 mph, 1,000ft-4.952.

Janis with another good pass, but will not improve. Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.602, 660ft-3.867/196.16 mph, 1,000ft-4.945.

Laughlin with tire shake right at the hit and clicks it off.
