CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 35th annual Magic Dry Organic Absorbent NHRA Arizona Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Jim Maroney Runs 8.697/53.86, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 55 degrees, relative humidity 44 percent, barometer 28.63 inches, adjusted altitude 2,415 feet, track temperature 83 degrees.

Maroney launched into violent tire shake and shook the chute out as he coasted on down the track.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 17.240/55.94, Now #3
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 4.976/185.28, Now #1

Millican lost traction right at the hit and clicked if off.

Force shook right at the hit and pedaled it before going back up in smoke.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 15.909/60.56, Now #4
Right Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 11.859/85.67, Now #3

Brown with severe tire shake right at the hit and he clicked it off.

Palmer did the same as he shook, shut it off and coasted on down the track.

Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 12.094/83.05, Now #4

Pritchett was scheduled to line up next to Prock, but decided not to make a pass in this session.

Prock lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off.

The rest of the Top Fuel teams have pulled out of the lanes and will come back for the second session.
