POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel Harley at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 59th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Mike Balch Runs 10.552/69.81, Now #2
Right Lane: Andy Beauchemin Runs 7.075/191.40, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 31 percent, barometer 28.95 inches, adjusted altitude 1,521 feet, track temperature 88 degrees.

Balch started to haze the tires around half track and clicked it off.

Beauchemin slowed on the top end.

Left Lane: Mike Beland No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Kevin Boyer Runs 11.065/71.45, Now #3

Beland with problems.

Boyer clicked it off around 300 feet.

Left Lane: Bob Malloy No Time, Now #5
Right Lane: Mike Scott Runs 11.753/92.12, Now #4

Malloy is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks off and is timed out so he didn't get an E.T.

Scott loses traction early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Beau Layne No Time, Now #6
Right Lane: Randal Andras No Time, Now #8

Layne started to lose traction and clicked it off. He will not get a time because Andras took out the cones.

Andras started drifting out of the groove and collected the 1000 foot and finish line cones, so this run will be DQed.

Left Lane: Rickey House Runs 10.218/96.70, Now #3
Right Lane: Jay Turner Runs 6.519/233.03, Now #1

House launched with the front end in the air and when it came down it started to haze the tires and he clicked it off.

Turner with a clean pass to go to the number one spot. Jay Turner's incremental times: 60ft-1.189 sec., 330ft-2.926, 660ft-4.344/176.24 mph, 1,000ft-5.526.

Left Lane: Doug Vancil Runs 6.351/211.06, Now #1
Right Lane: Tii Tharpe Runs 13.575/79.92, Now #8

Vancil launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot with a nice pass. Doug Vancil's incremental times: 60ft-1.119 sec., 330ft-2.843, 660ft-4.180/184.60 mph, 1,000ft-5.334.

Tharpe is up in smoke early and clicks it off.
