POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 54th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals:

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 22 percent, barometer 28.93 inches, adjusted altitude 2,275 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.

Blake Alexander has competed in 10 races this year and has yet to lose in the first round and he has made it to the semi-finals in six of those races. Mike Salinas is making his 34th start in Top Fuel.

Alexander is 3 - 0 against Salinas in prior events.

Alexander with a slight starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. Alexander is just a tick off his qualifying time for the win.

Antron Brown won here in 2009 and 2010 and was runner-up in 2015. He also won in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class in 1999. He is one of only three pro drivers to win this race in more than one pro class (Bernstein & Worsham). Doug Kalitta won this race in 2016 and has been the runner-up twice. This is the 54th meeting between these two and that is the sixth most head-to-head meetings between any two Top Fuel drivers.

Brown is 31 - 22 against Kalitta in prior events.

Leah Pritchett's qualifying time (3.631) is tied for the second quickest in Top Fuel history. She is 10 - 0 in the first round when starting from the No. 1 spot. In the last 20 years the No. 1 Top Fuel qualifier at this race is 18 - 2 in round one. Bill Litton is making his 15th start in Top Fuel.

Litton and Pritchett have each won 1 times against the other in prior events.

Pritchett with the starting line advantage, but is up in smoke right at the hit and she pedaled it at least three times and the car was sideways. She got over a crossed the centerline.

Litton was straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend for the win.

Clay Millican has qualified in the top four spots at 19 of the 24 races this year.

Millican is 11 - 6 against McMillen in prior events.

McMillen with a slight starting line advantage, but dropped a cylinder early and never got it to pick back up. Millican was straight down the groove with a great pass for the win.

He will give up lane choice to Alexander in the next round.

Reed with a slight starting line advantage, but Force has the difference made up by 100 feet and never trailed from there on for the win. She will have lane choice over Brown in the next round.

Steve Torrence's 26 wins are the ninth most for any Top Fuel driver. Cameron Ferre is making his second start in Top Fuel. He was runner-up at Indy in 2015 in the Alky dragster class and runner-up here in TAD in 2014. He won here in Super Comp in 2012.

Torrence with the starting line advantage, but dropped a cylinder right at the hit, he pedaled it and got it to clean up, but then right in the lights he banged the blower. He gets the win when Ferre is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Tony Schumacher has been to the final round at this race eight times and has won it four times. Scott Palmer is making his 110th start. His 14 losses against Tony are tied for the most losses for him against any opponent (he also lost 14 to Doug Kalitta). This is a rematch of the first round race at Las Vegas, only at that event Scott was No. 8 and Tony was No. 9.

Schumacher is 14 - 2 against Palmer in prior events.
