POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 54th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.704/327.35, Now #1; Best prior run: 9.416/78.94, Was #15

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 8 percent, barometer 28.84 inches, adjusted altitude 2,644 feet, track temperature 80 degrees.

Torrence launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.819 sec., 330ft-2.101, 660ft-2.970/291.51 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.794/325.61, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.656/102.53, Was #15
Right Lane: Audrey Worm Runs 7.731/92.70, Now #16; No Prior Run

McMillen was straight down the groove with a good looking pass to go to the number seven spot. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.160, 660ft-3.051/285.29 mph.

Worm with problems right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 3.756/319.52, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.908/146.05, Was #13
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.740/319.29, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.352/125.33, Was #15

Crampton kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Richie Crampton's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.125, 660ft-3.007/287.60 mph.

Kalitta had the candles lit all the way down the track to go to the number two spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.130, 660ft-2.998/291.51 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.772/324.28, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.384/183.77, Was #14
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.702/327.19, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.819/320.97, Was #11

Force was straight down the groove with it hitting on all eight to go to the number five spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.158, 660ft-3.036/290.44 mph.

Millican with the header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.824 sec., 330ft-2.105, 660ft-2.972/292.52 mph.

Left Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 8.926/74.82, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.211/208.20, Was #14
Right Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 3.767/328.38, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.816/322.81, Was #12

Salinas is up in smoke early and clicked it off.

Palmer with a great looking pass to go to the number five spot. Scott Palmer's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.150, 660ft-3.033/288.39 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Reed Runs 8.274/76.43, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.858/312.35, Was #13
Right Lane: Blake Alexander Runs 3.711/330.88, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.808/323.35, Was #12

Reed lost traction early and clicked it off.

Alexander had it hitting on all eight all the way down the track to go to the number three spot. Blake Alexander's incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.116, 660ft-2.984/292.52 mph.

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.711/328.86, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.801/322.04, Was #12
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.704/329.50, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.791/325.37, Was #9

This is a great side-by-side drag race.

Torrence kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number five spot. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.830 sec., 330ft-2.113, 660ft-2.981/292.96 mph.

Brown with big Goodyears stuck all the way down the track and he ties Steve Torrence's E.T. and will get the position based on his faster speed to go to the number two spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.830 sec., 330ft-2.098, 660ft-2.973/290.82 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 6.748/98.23, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.792/326.24, Was #11
Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 3.649/329.34, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.774/312.64, Was #10

Schumacher is up in smoke early and clicked it off.

Pritchett launched hard and kept it hooked up, hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Leah Pritchett's incremental times: 60ft-0.825 sec., 330ft-2.083, 660ft-2.929/299.13 mph.
