POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 54th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Anthony Vanetti Runs 7.074/188.94, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.215/183.82, Was #20

3:53 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 8 percent, barometer 28.84 inches, adjusted altitude 2,869 feet, track temperature 99 degrees.

Vanetti makes a clean pass into the new bump spot.

Anthony Vanetti's incremental times: 60ft-1.071 sec., 330ft-2.932, 660ft-4.509/155.10 mph, 1,000ft-5.889.


Left Lane: Maurice Allen Runs 7.114/186.64, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.158/185.26, Was #20

Allen makes a better pass this time, but won't get in the field.

He has problems getting the bike stopped and slowly stops in the sand trap without an issue.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.898/191.29, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.076/167.70, Was #17
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 7.081/163.63, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.157/153.32, Was #20

Johnson gets it all together this time and runs hard to near the top half of the field.

Smith does improve too, but not enough to bump in.

Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.052 sec., 330ft-2.855, 660ft-4.386/159.59 mph, 1,000ft-5.734.
Angie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.090 sec., 330ft-2.910, 660ft-4.442/159.32 mph, 1,000ft-5.794.

Left Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 6.953/194.86, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.058/189.82, Was #16
Right Lane: Katie Sullivan Runs 6.978/193.99, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.147/190.46, Was #20

Freddie Camarena is on the bump spot at 7.058, but doesn't stay there long. He makes a much better pass and goes into the #13 spot for now.

Sullivan is right behind him and slides in to replace him on the bump.

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 6.895/193.40, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.950/192.66, Was #11
Right Lane: Kelly Clontz Runs 7.035/191.57, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.013/191.05, Was #17

Strong pass for Sampey, up two spots to #9.

Clontz picks up a little speed, but loses a little ET to stay #17.

Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-1.088 sec., 330ft-2.882, 660ft-4.402/160.94 mph, 1,000ft-5.740.
Kelly Clontz's incremental times: 60ft-1.076 sec., 330ft-2.931, 660ft-4.513/155.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.874.

Left Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 6.893/196.64, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.939/194.97, Was #11
Right Lane: Joey Gladstone Runs 6.880/196.30, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.969/193.27, Was #15

Two strong high eighty passes.

Gladstone picks up ten spots to #5 and Oehler just one to #10.

Ryan Oehler's incremental times: 60ft-1.083 sec., 330ft-2.898, 660ft-4.424/160.67 mph, 1,000ft-5.753.
Joey Gladstone's incremental times: 60ft-1.077 sec., 330ft-2.879, 660ft-4.402/160.21 mph, 1,000ft-5.737.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.828/196.39, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.886/195.68, Was #8
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.885/194.49, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.960/190.59, Was #15

And the hits keep coming!

Eighties look to be easy for the better teams and these two are no exception. Two clean passes and six place improvement for Pollacheck and five for Tonglet.

LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.060 sec., 330ft-2.849, 660ft-4.365/161.61 mph, 1,000ft-5.690.
Scotty Pollacheck's incremental times: 60ft-1.055 sec., 330ft-2.858, 660ft-4.393/159.53 mph, 1,000ft-5.735.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.914/195.82, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.885/197.57, Was #8
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.992/191.59, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.952/191.40, Was #14

Arana and Stoffer buck the trend and slow a little to stay #8 and #14 for now.

Hector Arana's incremental times: 60ft-1.088 sec., 330ft-2.907, 660ft-4.435/160.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.769.
Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.082 sec., 330ft-2.912, 660ft-4.465/157.59 mph, 1,000ft-5.826.

Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 6.883/192.08, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.880/194.80, Was #7
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.886/194.60, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.892/194.13, Was #10

Just 0.003 difference in ET's and they both stay in their current spots for now.

Chip Ellis' incremental times: 60ft-1.053 sec., 330ft-2.846, 660ft-4.377/160.06 mph, 1,000ft-5.723.
Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.071 sec., 330ft-2.862, 660ft-4.392/159.40 mph, 1,000ft-5.736.

Left Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.848/194.74, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.878/193.52, Was #5
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.864/197.77, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.871/196.42, Was #4

Savoie picks up a spot and pushes Krawiec back a spot.

Jerry Savoie's incremental times: 60ft-1.053 sec., 330ft-2.848, 660ft-4.371/160.63 mph, 1,000ft-5.704.
Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.101 sec., 330ft-2.899, 660ft-4.411/161.61 mph, 1,000ft-5.733.

Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.917/196.19, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.824/198.96, Was #2

Two strong, but a little slower passes by the top two to wrap up today's qualifying. More "Little Points" for Smith!

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.055 sec., 330ft-2.852, 660ft-4.366/162.33 mph, 1,000ft-5.679.
Hector Arana Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.085 sec., 330ft-2.904, 660ft-4.436/159.31 mph, 1,000ft-5.776.
