POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 54th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Don St. Arnaud Runs 5.806/248.20, Now #2
Right Lane: Randy Eakins Runs 5.404/262.90, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 30 percent, barometer 28.82 inches, adjusted altitude 2,986 feet, track temperature 83 degrees.

St. Arnaud slowed on the top end.

Eakins was straight down the groove with a good clean pass. Randy Eakins' incremental times: 60ft-0.959 sec., 330ft-2.467, 660ft-3.600/220.91 mph, 1,000ft-4.565.

Right Lane: Derik Milanesio Runs 5.374/270.27, Now #1

Ahten shook early and shut off.

Conway shook and pedaled it, but couldn't get it to hook up and clicked it off.

Januik started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Fricke lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off.

This was a great side-by-side drag race to wrap up round one of Top Alcohol Dragster qualifying.

Cowie kept it hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.906 sec., 330ft-2.368, 660ft-3.484/223.80 mph, 1,000ft-4.427.

Severance launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.885 sec., 330ft-2.329, 660ft-3.445/222.66 mph, 1,000ft-4.396.
