CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 11th annual NHRA Carolina Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Jonnie Lindberg Runs 6.813/94.42, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.869/159.99, Was #14
Right Lane: Dave Richards Runs 4.248/272.94, Now #14; No Prior Run

6:03 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 73 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 29.11 inches, adjusted altitude 2,355 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

Lindberg was up in smoke before the 330-foot mark. Richards dropped a couple of cylinders before the finish.

Creasy drifted right and he took out 3 timing blocks. Beckman makes a good looking pass to put him in the number 4 spot for now. Jack Beckman's incremental times: 60ft-0.870 sec., 330ft-2.250, 660ft-3.200/274.50 mph.
