CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 11th annual NHRA Carolina Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Fred Tigges Runs 6.020/200.56, Now #1

11:23 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 29.18 inches, adjusted altitude 2,117 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

Tigges was wiggling around and he pedaled it a couple times.

Left Lane: Bob McCosh Runs 5.574/262.18, Now #1
Right Lane: John Headley Runs 10.270/78.01, Now #3

Headley was sluggish off the line and he lifted early.

Left Lane: Chip Beverett Runs 8.389/148.38, Now #4
Right Lane: Marie Ferriolo Runs 5.962/194.13, Now #2

Beverett made a move toward the wall shortly after the launch.

Left Lane: Bill Naves Runs 5.990/236.55, Now #3
Right Lane: Aryan Rochon No Time, Now #7

Rochon was very slow off the line and he crept down the track. He didn't cross the finish line until after the next pair was entered into the system.

Left Lane: Andy Bohl Runs 5.659/268.49, Now #3
Right Lane: Nick Januik Runs 5.641/261.93, Now #2

A good looking drag race! Januik couldn't get his car stopped and he took a trip into the sand trap.

Left Lane: DJ Cox Jr. Runs 11.696/91.05, Now #10
Right Lane: Tyler Scott Runs 5.494/265.38, Now #1

Cox had traction troubles on the launch and he lifted. Scott makes a strong pass to take the top spot in the order for now. Tyler Scott's incremental times: 60ft-0.956 sec., 330ft-2.469, 660ft-3.645/210.97 mph, 1,000ft-4.647.

Right Lane: Phil Burkart Runs 5.526/267.32, Now #2

No visible problems in either lane.

Left Lane: Chris Marshall Runs 5.533/269.67, Now #4
Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.428/272.12, Now #1

A good looking pair to end this session. Bellemeur moves into the top spot in the order. Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.953 sec., 330ft-2.456, 660ft-3.615/214.45 mph, 1,000ft-4.599.
