ENNIS, Texas -- Texas native Steve Torrence piloted his dragster to the Top Fuel winners circle Sunday afternoon to secure his first career victory at his hometown race, the AAA Texas NHRA Nationals at Texas Motorplex.

Robert Hight (Funny Car), Tanner Gray (Pro Stock), and LE Tonglet (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were also winners in their respective categories at the third of six playoff events during the 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship.

Steve Torrence, 3.786 seconds, 325.92 mph defeated Terry McMillen, 3.826 seconds, 321.04 mph.

This is his first win at Texas Motorplex for the Kilgore, Texas native.

Robert Hight, Chevy Camaro, 3.955 seconds, 325.69 mph defeated J.R. Todd, Toyota Camry, 3.984 seconds, 319.52 mph.

This is his fourth win at Dallas and second consecutive in the Countdown. He is the current Funny Car points leader.

Tanner Gray, Chevy Camaro, 6.622 seconds, 207.62 mph defeated Jeg Coughlin, Camaro, 6.636 seconds, 207.82 mph.

This is his first win at the Motorplex and his second consecutive in the Countdown.

LE Tonglet, Suzuki, 6.892 seconds, 194.80 mph defeated Jerry Savoie, Suzuki, 6.907 seconds, 193.88 mph.

This is his fourth win of the season and the second at the facility.
