ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 33rd annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Karl Brounkowski Runs 5.864/231.71, Now #1

12:14 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 66 percent, barometer 29.43 inches, adjusted altitude 3,160 feet, track temperature 111 degrees.

Seven out of the top ten in points are at this race including the top four.

Brounkowski makes a clean pass but looks he had a cylinder or two out near the end of the run.

Left Lane: Shayne Lawson Runs 5.449/270.10, Now #1

Lawson goes down the groove with a clean pass.

Left Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 5.307/271.02, Now #1
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 17.591/74.63, Now #4

Massey goes up in smoke at the hit and is off the throttle quickly. Bradshaw makes a clean, straight pass to take the early pole.

Left Lane: Buddy Domingue Runs 5.344/263.36, Now #3
Right Lane: Todd Bruce Runs 5.283/276.69, Now #1

Bruce makes a good run for the conditions and takes the top spot for now. Domingue makes a clean pass to get in the third spot for now.

Left Lane: Shane Conway Runs 5.335/266.27, Now #3
Right Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 6.529/149.02, Now #7

Conway makes a clean pass and ges in the third spot for now. Thacker has traction problems early, puts out a cylinder and backs off the throttle.

Left Lane: Gary Cooper Runs 5.457/267.16, Now #7
Right Lane: Rachel Meyer Runs 5.436/277.49, Now #5

Cooper makes a clean pass and gets in the seventh spot for now. Meyer makes a decent pass to get in the show in the fifth spot for now.

Left Lane: Robin Samsel Runs 5.281/272.23, Now #2
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.261/273.55, Now #1

Fricke makes a good run in the heat and takes the top spot for now. Samsel makes a good pass and gets in just behind in the second spot for now.

Left Lane: Josh Hart Runs 5.323/271.19, Now #6
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.286/274.72, Now #4

Severance makes a clean pass and gets in the fourth spot for now. Hart was moving around a little late in the run and gets in the sixth spot for now.

Left Lane: Troy Coughlin Jr. Runs 21.282/31.69, Now #16
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.562/270.64, Now #12

Coughlin goes up in smoke at the hit and is off the throttle early. Cowie gets out of the groove, loses traction and has to pedal. He gives up on the run late.
