ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 33rd annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Aryan Rochon No Time, Now #3
Right Lane: Lance Van Hauen Runs 5.719/256.41, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 66 percent, barometer 29.43 inches, adjusted altitude 3,160 feet, track temperature 111 degrees.

Rochon broke on the starting line and was pushed back.

Van Hauen was straight down the groove with a nice pass to start the weekend.

Left Lane: Nick Januik Runs 5.964/244.74, Now #3
Right Lane: Bryan Brown Runs 5.744/260.21, Now #2

Januik was real loose, he pedaled it a couple times and stayed with it.

Brown with a clean pass to start the weekend.

Left Lane: Brian Hough Runs 8.509/96.16, Now #5
Right Lane: John Lombardo Jr. Runs 5.480/270.10, Now #1

Hough with tire shake and pedaled it, but couldn't get it to hook up and clicked it off.

Lombardo launched hard and kept it hooked up with a great pass. John Lombardo Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.951 sec., 330ft-2.481, 660ft-3.654/211.89 mph, 1,000ft-4.646.

Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.650/262.39, Now #2
Right Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.805/258.96, Now #5

Payne with a good pass to start the weekend as he goes to the number two spot. Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.962 sec., 330ft-2.558, 660ft-3.766/206.76 mph, 1,000ft-4.790.

Gordon is fifth in the National point standing...the top five cars are here this weekend. Gordon with tire shake and pedaled it...

Left Lane: Chris Marshall Runs 5.594/225.03, Now #3
Right Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 5.521/267.75, Now #2

Marshall is currently in fourth pace. He clicks it off early as he gets loose on the top end. Chris Marshall's incremental times: 60ft-0.959 sec., 330ft-2.481, 660ft-3.657/210.80 mph, 1,000ft-4.655.

Westerfield is currently in the number three spot on the point standing. Westerfield was straight down the groove with anice pass to go to the number two spot. Shane Westerfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.953 sec., 330ft-2.490, 660ft-3.674/209.95 mph, 1,000ft-4.678.

Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 8.954/99.95, Now #10

Her are number one (Bellemeur) and two (Whiteley) in the point standing.

Whiteley with severe tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Bellemeur overpowers the track and clicks it off.
