LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 17th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 11.320/79.62, Now #2
Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 7.480/74.15, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 91 degrees, relative humidity 16 percent, barometer 27.85 inches, adjusted altitude 4,813 feet, track temperature 113 degrees.

This is only the second event for Zizzo this year. Zizzo lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off.

This is Salinas' sixth event this year and first since Seattle. Salinas with tire shake and he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 9.863/77.09, Now #3
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.978/260.01, Now #1

Crampton is up in smoke right at the hit.

Buff with a good looking pass to start the weekend. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.204, 660ft-3.134/270.54 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Reed Runs 5.305/128.92, Now #2

Reed started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 4.065/226.81, Now #3
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.789/307.65, Now #1

Palmer was on a good pass until just past the 1/8 mile mark the engine let go with a bang and pop.

McMillen kept it hooked up and clean for a nice pass to start the weekend. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.140, 660ft-3.030/283.43 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 5.182/131.66, Now #4
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 5.432/119.59, Now #6

Langdon started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Millican starts to haze the tires and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.798/325.61, Now #3
Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 3.754/324.20, Now #1

This was a good side-by-side drag race.

Schumacher is straight down the groove to the number three spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.054/284.09 mph.

Pritchett launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Leah Pritchett's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.144, 660ft-3.017/290.69 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.760/325.61, Now #2
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.764/324.83, Now #3

Brown kept it hitting on all eight all the way down the track to go to the number two spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.850 sec., 330ft-2.146, 660ft-3.021/288.95 mph.

Kalitta was right there with him to go to the number three spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.147, 660ft-3.025/288.09 mph.

Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.736/319.37, Now #1

This is a great side-by-side drag race to wrap up round one of qualifying.

Force was straight down the groove to go to the number three spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.139, 660ft-3.020/286.80 mph.

Torrence launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.118, 660ft-2.993/289.82 mph.
