Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Final Session

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 52nd annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.333/276.18, Now #7; Best prior run: 14.701/60.95, Was #19
Right Lane: Ashley Sanford Runs 5.659/266.90, Now #16; Best prior run: 8.051/102.54, Was #18

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 30 percent, barometer 28.98 inches, adjusted altitude 2,683 feet, track temperature 88 degrees.

Fricke with a good clean pass to get in the field, she was straight down the groove to get into the top half of the show. Jackie Fricke's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.492, 660ft-3.596/227.38 mph, 1,000ft-4.528.
Sanford started to lose traction and did a couple quick pedal jobs to get it to hook up and in the show. Ashley Sanford's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.679, 660ft-3.857/213.94 mph, 1,000ft-4.826.


Left Lane: Randy Eakins Runs 13.222/54.41, Now #19; Best prior run: 5.897/238.68, Was #18
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.420/270.81, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.052/170.67, Was #19

Eakins lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off. Cowie was straight down the groove to get in the show. Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.942 sec., 330ft-2.445, 660ft-3.608/214.69 mph, 1,000ft-4.590. That bumps out Sanford and Jay Livingston is on the bump spot at 5.523.

Left Lane: Krista Baldwin Runs 10.492/83.63, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.453/267.75, Was #14
Right Lane: Jay Livingston Runs 5.392/265.01, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.523/225.79, Was #16

Baldwin was up in smoke right at the hit and pedaled it, but couldn't get it to hook up and clicked it off.Livingston kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to get off the bump. Jay Livingston's incremental times: 60ft-0.936 sec., 330ft-2.391, 660ft-3.552/212.26 mph, 1,000ft-4.545. Cody Perkins is on the bump spot at 5.469.

Left Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 5.654/255.48, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.412/268.76, Was #13
Right Lane: Cody Perkins Runs 5.393/263.00, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.469/260.31, Was #16

Grisel had holes out on the left bank and never gor it to clean up. Perkins was straight down the groove with a nice looking pass to get off the bump. Cody Perkins' incremental times: 60ft-0.922 sec., 330ft-2.385, 660ft-3.545/212.73 mph, 1,000ft-4.541. Krista Baldwin is on the bump spot at 5.453.

Left Lane: Derik Milanesio Runs 5.332/272.78, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.382/265.85, Was #9
Right Lane: Megan McKernan Runs 5.353/266.85, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.397/263.77, Was #13

This was a good side-by-side drag race. Milanesio with a real nice pass to get into the top half of the show. Derik Milanesio's incremental times: 60ft-0.948 sec., 330ft-2.436, 660ft-3.563/222.66 mph, 1,000ft-4.514. McKernan with her quickest pass of the weekend to move up the ladder three spots. Megan McKernan's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.442, 660ft-3.568/222.29 mph, 1,000ft-4.524.

Left Lane: Chris Demke Runs 5.281/271.62, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.324/272.45, Was #6
Right Lane: Johnny Ahten Runs 5.349/262.49, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.395/270.97, Was #13

Demke with a real nice pass, his quickest of the weekend to move up the ladder one spot. Chris Demke's incremental times: 60ft-0.921 sec., 330ft-2.348, 660ft-3.481/218.09 mph, 1,000ft-4.455. Ahten with a real nice pass to move up the ladder three spots. Johnny Ahten's incremental times: 60ft-0.937 sec., 330ft-2.441, 660ft-3.559/224.36 mph, 1,000ft-4.511.

Left Lane: Monty Bugeja Runs 5.332/268.81, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.321/269.67, Was #6
Right Lane: Cameron Ferre Runs 5.443/264.23, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.347/272.78, Was #9

Bugeja with another good pass, but will not improve. Monty Bugeja's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.386, 660ft-3.520/218.09 mph, 1,000ft-4.498. Ferre with a clean pass, but will not improve.

Left Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 5.235/269.13, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.259/275.51, Was #3
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.232/274.61, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.264/274.55, Was #4

This was a great side-by-side drag race as both drivers run their quickest passes of the weekend. McPhillips will stay in the number three spot as Severance goes to the number two spot. Rich McPhillips' incremental times: 60ft-0.936 sec., 330ft-2.390, 660ft-3.482/227.84 mph, 1,000ft-4.419.
Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.904 sec., 330ft-2.345, 660ft-3.459/222.29 mph, 1,000ft-4.415.

Right Lane: Garrett Bateman Runs 9.588/89.64, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.242/263.67, Was #4

Bateman started to lose traction early and got out of the groove before he clicked it off. St. Arnaud will qualify number one for the fourth time in his career.
