ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 31st annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Gunner Courtney Runs 7.367/175.43, Now #2
Right Lane: John Hall Runs 7.064/186.51, Now #1

4:27 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 87 degrees, relative humidity 53 percent, barometer 29.48 inches, adjusted altitude 3,181 feet, track temperature 106 degrees.

Courtney is making his Pro Stock Motorcycle debut.

He leaves the line and drifts to the right. He steers the bike back to the left and stays on the throttle all the way through the run.

Gladstone makes a clean pass and takes the early pole. Hope was falling behind all the way through the run.

Right Lane: Lance Bonham Runs 7.415/180.89, Now #6

Berry makes a clean, straight pass and gets in the third spot for now. Bonham is well off the pace.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.075/186.30, Now #6
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 6.959/191.16, Now #1

Gann makes a decent pass and takes the top spot for now. DeSantis drifts a little to the right and is well off the pace.

Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 7.161/156.35, Now #8
Right Lane: Melissa Surber Runs 6.914/190.14, Now #1

Surber goes right down the groove and moves into the top spot for now. Smith had problems and was off the throttle early.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.958/192.77, Now #3
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.933/193.79, Now #2

Stoffer makes a good pass and gets in the show in the second spot for now. Johnson makes a clean straight pass and gets in just behind in the third spot for now.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.863/193.99, Now #1
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.886/194.04, Now #2

Arana makes a good pass for the conditions and takes the top spot for now. Smith makes a good pass and gets in just behind in the second spot.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.921/194.77, Now #5
Right Lane: Cory Reed Runs 6.877/192.38, Now #2

Reed goes right down the groove with a good pass and gets in the second spot for now. Arana makes a good pass but was falling behind all the way through the run.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.908/194.18, Now #5
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.831/195.68, Now #1

Savoie makes an impressive pass and takes the top spot for now. Tonglet makes a clean pass and gets in the fifth spot for now.

Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 6.858/194.16, Now #2

A good side-by-side, both right down the groove. Sampey gets in the field in the second spot, Ellis in third, for now.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.839/194.74, Now #3
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.812/195.42, Now #1

Hines goes right down the groove with the quickest pass of the round and takes the top spot to end this session. Krawiec makes a decent pass and gets in the third spot.
