TOPEKA, Kan. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 28th annual NHRA Kansas Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: James Stevens Runs 5.434/262.54, Now #5; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 5.730/230.02, Now #11; No Prior Run

6:24 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 58 percent, barometer 28.84 inches, adjusted altitude 2,355 feet, track temperature 80 degrees.

Bradshaw had at least one cylinder out on this pass. A career best speed for Stevens.

James Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.932 sec., 330ft-2.396, 660ft-3.568/209.59 mph, 1,000ft-4.577.
Alan Bradshaw's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.541, 660ft-3.739/206.10 mph, 1,000ft-4.785.

Newkirk hazed the tires on the launch. A season's best ET for Fricke.

Finke pedaled it a couple times and had a cylinder out. A season's best speed for Copeland.

Meyer chattered the tires for 150 feet before she lifted. No problems for Severance.

Right Lane: Chris Demke Runs 6.601/138.19, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.282/273.72, Was #1

Callaway shook hard on the launch and his chutes deployed. Demke was off the throttle early, the reason not apparent from here.
