Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.750/205.85, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.746/205.76, Was #16
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.715/207.21, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.729/207.37, Was #15

4:15 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 43 percent, barometer 28.94 inches, adjusted altitude 3,054 feet, track temperature 90 degrees.

Only 16 cars here, so it's an all-run field.

Clean runs in both lanes, no help for Hartford, a small improvement for Gaines.

Matt Hartford's incremental times: 60ft-1.020 sec., 330ft-2.837, 660ft-4.352/162.96 mph, 1,000ft-5.654.
V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-1.013 sec., 330ft-2.819, 660ft-4.328/163.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.625.

Left Lane: Aaron Strong Runs 6.685/207.08, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.665/208.26, Was #12
Right Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 6.707/207.43, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.686/207.75, Was #14

Two more good runs, both slowed slightly from earlier today.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.683/207.72, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.660/208.68, Was #11
Right Lane: Joey Grose Runs 6.689/207.08, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.674/207.94, Was #13

Same story, good runs, but a hundredth or so slower than earlier today.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.660/207.62, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.645/208.55, Was #8
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.764/185.26, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.653/208.33, Was #10

And more of the same, a hundredth or so slower than earlier.

Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.010 sec., 330ft-2.797, 660ft-4.289/165.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.576.
Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.784, 660ft-4.287/163.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.599.

Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.658/207.94, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.632/209.52, Was #6
Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.651/207.88, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.652/208.49, Was #9

McGaha's car stepped out to the right on the launch, he drove through it. Enders actually improved, but just a thousandth, and will face teammate Coughlin in round one tomorrow.

Left Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.627/208.49, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.623/208.26, Was #5
Right Lane: Alex Laughlin Runs 6.665/206.07, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.634/208.07, Was #7

Nobile came close to his earlier run, with a better speed.

Left Lane: Bo Butner Runs 6.594/209.30, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.606/209.43, Was #3
Right Lane: Drew Skillman Runs 6.634/207.66, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.616/209.20, Was #4

Butner made his best run of the weekend, stayed third.

Bo Butner's incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.753, 660ft-4.238/165.84 mph, 1,000ft-5.517.
Drew Skillman's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.773, 660ft-4.264/164.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.551.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.585/209.62, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.586/208.65, Was #1
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.605/210.34, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.592/210.14, Was #2

Last pair. This is the first time since 2011 that the two Summit teammates have qualified #1 and #2.

Anderson improved, but only a thousandth. Line lost ground in the ET, but set top speed of the meet. This is the 81st time Anderson has qualified #1 and the 6th time he has done so at this event.

That's it, eliminations will be tomorrow.
