POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Doug Lambeck Runs 8.461/158.30/-0.519, Now #10; D/SMA Index: 8.98, Prior Best: 8.479/158.93/-0.501, Was #10
Right Lane: Ross Wilson Runs 8.817/122.33/0.157, Now #8; B/SM Index: 8.66, Prior Best: 8.076/168.68/-0.584, Was #8

3:17 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 27 percent, barometer 28.97 inches, adjusted altitude 3,113 feet, track temperature 104 degrees.

Ray Skillman is number one at -0.767 under. Field not filled, no bump spot.

A little dart for Lambeck's car about 100 feet out and he picks a little ET to stay #10.

Wilson tested the green and lost. He slows a little from earlier.

Fletcher was off the pace in Q1 and is off the throttle early again.

Lee has a good start and lifts early too.

No improvements, so far, but Van Paepeghem now shows the field how to do it with a strong leave and a strong finish for four spots on the ladder and the new #7 spot.

Clean pass for Carter until the top end and he is off the loud pedal early.

Nice wheels up leave for Lane, a perfect light, and a better pass to move up to the new #4 spot.

Skillman shows that his first pass was no fluke and improves a little to stay number one.

Mandella's Q1 times were DQ'ed and he gets a good number to tune to here.

Ellis finds a little more power and moves up a spot to #5.

Shades of the ol' "Pappy's Pride" A/A, as Snyder powers on down the track to move up to the number thirteen spot.

Hedlund's Cobalt makes a hard right turn at the green and he has to work hard to get it under control. He still runs close to his prior best to stay #2

3:29 p.m. Skillman is number one at -0.778 under. Field not filled, no bump spot.
