KING, N.C. -- The Victory Motorcycle team received a post-Christmas present in the form of a sponsorship deal with Lucas Oil Products.

The associate sponsorship will be for both of Matt Smith Racing's Victory Gunner Pro Stock Motorcycles, which will be ridden by Matt and Angie Smith during the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

"Lucas is huge in NHRA," Matt Smith said. "They're a great company. We think it will help us. The oil looked good when we ran it on the dyno. We're going to go test at the track, but my dad ran it all last year, so I know it's a good product. We're looking forward to running Lucas Oil and working with Forrest and Charlotte and the entire company. Forrest is an icon in the industry, and I'm looking forward to working with the company."

Smith, a two-time Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion, is in his second season racing Victory Motorcycles. He is coming off a runner-up finish at the season finale in Pomona, Calif., and is hoping to continue that momentum when the 2016 season kicks off in Gainesville, Fla., in March.

Smith's wife Angie, a Pro Stock Motorcycle race winner, will continue to race alongside her husband in 2016.

Smith is also a talented engine builder, and he knows the state-of-art products Lucas Oil delivers can help generate more horsepower and durability.

"We ran some of their oil on the dyno and everything looked good, so we're really excited about going on board with them and trying to help promote their product," Smith said. "They want to do some R&D with some different additives and stuff like that. I told them I would definitely work with them, and we'll try to find some stuff that makes more power for us."
