POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 51st annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Melissa Surber Runs 7.020/180.84, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 6.938/192.41, Now #13; No Prior Run

11:52 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 23 percent, barometer 28.84 inches, adjusted altitude 2,574 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

Karen Stoffer is number one at 6.823.

Surber finally puts a number on the boards, but it is not likely to last.

Gann improves on yesterday's times to move into the number 13 spot on a nice run.

Right Lane: Katie Sullivan Runs 7.153/189.73, Now #16; No Prior Run

Both bikes are well off of yester's pace and will likely soon be bumped.

Melissa Surber's incremental times: 60ft-1.078 sec., 330ft-2.915, 660ft-4.465/157.63 mph, 1,000ft-5.827.
Shawn Gann's incremental times: 60ft-1.065 sec., 330ft-2.872, 660ft-4.419/158.11 mph, 1,000ft-5.773.

Left Lane: Lance Bonham Runs 7.476/183.07, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Bill Burkhart Runs 7.783/176.56, Now #18; No Prior Run

Burkhart's bike is bouncing around off the line and slows from yesterday. No joy for Bonham either.

Lance Bonham's incremental times: 60ft-1.212 sec., 330ft-3.171, 660ft-4.817/148.67 mph, 1,000ft-6.250.
Bill Burkhart's incremental times: 60ft-1.259 sec., 330ft-3.351, 660ft-5.040/145.45 mph, 1,000ft-6.513.

Left Lane: Luke Crowley Runs 7.016/193.79, Now #16; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Eddie Reed Runs 7.008/188.28, Now #15; No Prior Run

Crowley picks up enough from his prior best to get onto the new bump spot.

Reed's run is much better that earlier and he is in the field for now.

Luke Crowley's incremental times: 60ft-1.136 sec., 330ft-2.965, 660ft-4.508/158.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.859.
Eddie Reed's incremental times: 60ft-1.088 sec., 330ft-2.907, 660ft-4.461/157.19 mph, 1,000ft-5.828.

Right Lane: Rhett Lougheed Runs 7.142/189.04, Now #19; No Prior Run

Berry doesn't run his best times, but it's good enough for today.

Lougheed slows from earlier.

Rhett Lougheed's incremental times: 60ft-1.143 sec., 330ft-3.004, 660ft-4.576/155.45 mph, 1,000ft-5.956.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 6.982/191.78, Now #15; No Prior Run

A full pass for DeSantis this time and he makes it a six second field.

Joe DeSantis' incremental times: 60ft-1.098 sec., 330ft-2.913, 660ft-4.460/158.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.816.

Left Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 6.963/193.07, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.051/187.11, Now #21; No Prior Run

Harris was spinning the tire off the line and it costs him.

Underdahl is just 0.002 slower than yesterday, but gets into the #14 spot for now.

Jim Underdahl's incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.896, 660ft-4.445/157.47 mph, 1,000ft-5.800.

Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.958/190.70, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.915/192.28, Was #10
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 6.976/194.55, Now #15; No Prior Run

Joe DeSantis is on the bump spot at 6.982.

Ray is a little off his prior pace to stay #10.

Camarena is off a little too and moves into the field in the #15 spot.

Michael Ray's incremental times: 60ft-1.072 sec., 330ft-2.886, 660ft-4.429/158.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.786.
Freddie Camarena's incremental times: 60ft-1.109 sec., 330ft-2.928, 660ft-4.472/158.52 mph, 1,000ft-5.821.

Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 17.583/38.69, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.919/192.14, Was #12
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.924/194.80, Now #13; No Prior Run

Mike Berry is on the bump spot at 6.979.

Smith is off the line and she sits up early and coasts.

Arana picks up just a little from his prior best times and jumps up into the new #13 spot.

Hector Arana's incremental times: 60ft-1.077 sec., 330ft-2.885, 660ft-4.423/158.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.770.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.891/193.96, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.917/193.88, Was #11
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 19.713/35.39, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.878/194.88, Was #9

Freddie Camarena is on the bump spot at 6.976. Both bikes are already in the field.

Pollacheck's engine sounded weird and he quickly clicks it off.

Johnson make the best run of the session, so far, and moves up a spot to #10.

Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.066 sec., 330ft-2.864, 660ft-4.395/159.68 mph, 1,000ft-5.738.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.869/194.86, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.858/195.99, Was #8
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.848/195.65, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.855/195.90, Was #7

Krawiec makes a strong pass to stay in the top half of the field for now.

Smith finds a little more tune up and moves up a spot to #6 on a strong pass.

Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.075 sec., 330ft-2.869, 660ft-4.388/161.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.720.
Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.061 sec., 330ft-2.844, 660ft-4.367/160.38 mph, 1,000ft-5.701.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.858/194.41, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.837/195.73, Was #5
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.851/195.59, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.853/195.19, Was #7

Just a two thousands improvement for Tonglet to stay #7.

Hines loses a little and will not improve his #5 position.

Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.068 sec., 330ft-2.856, 660ft-4.376/160.75 mph, 1,000ft-5.709.
LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.051 sec., 330ft-2.844, 660ft-4.371/160.10 mph, 1,000ft-5.706.

Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 14.908/48.65, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.830/196.42, Was #2
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.892/175.71, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.836/196.67, Was #4

Ellis is sitting up early, as the engine sounded rough.

Savoie way on a strong pass until near the top end and then unexpectedly slows.

Jerry Savoie's incremental times: 60ft-1.054 sec., 330ft-2.844, 660ft-4.356/161.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.683.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.851/195.82, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.823/196.36, Was #1
Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.865/197.59, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.833/197.57, Was #3

Two really strong passes with Arana running over 197 MPH. Neither bike can improve though.

Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.067 sec., 330ft-2.862, 660ft-4.382/161.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.711.
Hector Arana Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.069 sec., 330ft-2.872, 660ft-4.398/160.65 mph, 1,000ft-5.728.
