POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 51st annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 8.828/106.32, Now #2
Right Lane: Joey Grose Runs 6.656/210.34, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 21 percent, barometer 28.85 inches, adjusted altitude 2,663 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Stevens is driving Deric Kramer's car this weekend as he is off to big Fencing tournament. Stevens pushes in the clutch early. Grose with a clean pass, his career fastest pass. Joey Grose's incremental times: 60ft-1.035 sec., 330ft-2.821, 660ft-4.303/165.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.582.

This was a great side-by-side drag race as these two go to the top of the list. Skillman launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Drew Skillman's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.740, 660ft-4.197/169.04 mph, 1,000ft-5.454. McGaha was right there with him to go to the number two spot.
