POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 51st annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Bill Burkhart Runs 7.459/179.25, Now #2
Right Lane: Luke Crowley Runs 7.027/193.27, Now #1

11:48 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 21 percent, barometer 28.89 inches, adjusted altitude 2,529 feet, track temperature 91 degrees.

Two clean passes to start Pro qualifying.


Left Lane: Robert Karlsson Runs 7.109/189.66, Now #3
Right Lane: Kalle Lyren Runs 6.983/191.02, Now #1

Lyren runs a career best ET and speed to run out first six second pass.

Kalle Lyren's incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.899, 660ft-4.449/157.21 mph, 1,000ft-5.812.

Left Lane: Rhett Lougheed Runs 7.138/187.94, Now #4
Right Lane: Melissa Surber No Time, Now #6

Surber's bike won't start.

Lougheed's bike drifts towards the wall down track and he has to lift.

Right Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.915/192.28, Now #1

Ray will get a single. He makes a strong pass to the current top spot.

Left Lane: Katie Sullivan Runs 6.998/190.22, Now #3
Right Lane: Lance Bonham Runs 7.368/183.92, Now #7

Bonham's bike hits the rev limiter down track and it costs him a lot.

Clean pass for Sullivan.

Katie Sullivan's incremental times: 60ft-1.079 sec., 330ft-2.926, 660ft-4.475/157.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.832.

Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 6.994/189.15, Now #3
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.011/192.11, Now #5

Two clean passes and Harris moves into the top four for now.

Left Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 21.260/30.44, Now #12
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 6.951/190.83, Now #2

Camarena's bike leaves hard and then slows.

Berry makes a strong pass into the current #2,

Two bikes in the sixes and the top four.

Big speed and ET for Tonglet and the new top spot.

Johnson is right behind him for the number three spot.

Robert Karlsson is on the bump spot at 7.109.

Strong pass for Pollacheck and the latest #2 spot. Underdahl into the top eight.

Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.867/190.65, Now #1

Joe DeSantis is on the bump spot at 7.011.

Stoffer gets the new top spot, but looks to have slowed on the top end.

Arana into #8.

Redell Harris is on the bump spot at 6.994.

Five bikes in the eighties now and Ellis is number one. Smith is right behind him for the #2 spot for now.

Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.878/194.88, Now #6

Jim Underdahl is on the bump spot at 6.961.

Two clean passes and Arana takes over top speed for now.
