Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #3

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 15th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Chris Karamesines Runs 3.994/301.27, Now #13; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 27.96 inches, adjusted altitude 4,002 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.

Karamesines launched hard and was straight down the groove and keep the big Goodyears hooked up to make a good looking pass. Chris Karamesines' incremental times: 60ft-0.881 sec., 330ft-2.263, 660ft-3.203/273.05 mph.

Left Lane: Jenna Haddock Runs 4.014/232.35, Now #14; No Prior Run

Haddock was on a good looking pass, until just past 800 feet when it appeared the car pitched the blower belt and she slowed. She still made her quickest pass of the weekend to go to the number 14 spot. Jenna Haddock's incremental times: 60ft-0.866 sec., 330ft-2.160, 660ft-3.074/269.62 mph.

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.770/327.51, Now #6; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 3.829/325.06, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.871/267.69, Was #11

Todd launched hard and keep it hitting on all eight to get into the top half of the show. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.156, 660ft-3.036/289.88 mph. Connolly with a nice pass, his quickest of the weekend, but will stay in the number 11 spot. Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.186, 660ft-3.086/284.03 mph.

Left Lane: Noah Stutz Runs 3.877/293.22, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.870/317.94, Was #12
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.959/244.69, Now #14; No Prior Run

Stutz with another good pass, but will not improve and will stay in the number 12 spot. Noah Stutz's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.194, 660ft-3.102/280.25 mph. Force slows on the top end, but still makes her quickest pass of the weekend to go to the number 14 spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.160, 660ft-3.069/268.92 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 6.201/110.98, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.890/318.09, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.940/309.91, Was #13

McMillen starts to smoke the tires around 300 and he clicks it off. Kalitta with a new car here this weekend, not the same car they ran yesterday. He makes his quickest pass of the weekend in the new car. He will stay in the number 13 spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.209, 660ft-3.133/278.23 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.624/162.90, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.822/315.64, Was #9
Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 4.389/217.07, Now #17; No Prior Run

Millican starts to smoke the tires and clicks it off. Pritchett has a hole out right at the hit and then picks it up and the car starts to smoke the tires before she clicks it off.

Left Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 4.192/181.45, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.774/308.35, Was #7
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.882/312.42, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.828/314.68, Was #10

Crampton was on a good pass until it started to haze the tires around 800 feet and he clicked it off. Buff with another good pass, but he will not improve and will stay in the number 10 spot. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.189, 660ft-3.109/275.28 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.785/326.00, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.768/332.67, Was #5
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.627/162.06, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.794/323.81, Was #8

Langdon with real nice pass, straight down the groove with the second pass of the session. He will not improve and will stay in the number five spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.046/287.05 mph. Schumacher was on a good pass until just past half track when it started to haze the tires.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 9.671/73.75, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.733/328.30, Was #2
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.802/319.82, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.745/322.11, Was #4

Dixon was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Torrence with another good pass, the third quickest pass of the session. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.163, 660ft-3.053/285.23 mph. He will not improve and will stay in the number four spot.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.798/324.36, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.722/326.95, Was #1
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 5.056/143.54, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.733/327.19, Was #3

Brown keep it hooked up with a real nice pass for the third quickest pass of the round, but he will not improve. He will stay in the number one spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.148, 660ft-3.051/282.95 mph. Torrence starts to haze the tires early and clicks it off.
