Shane Gray is the defending event champion. The last PS driver to defend his Indy win was Dave Connolly in 2007 & 2008. This (#11) is just the 2nd time this year that Chris McGaha has started from the bottom half of the field. The #11 Pro Stock qualifier has never won this race. McGaha holds a 4-2 record against Gray, but they are 1-1 in round one.

McGaha picked up a hundredth on the tree, but it wasn't quite enough to hold off Gray's hard charge.

Larry Morgan won his first Pro Stock race here in 1989. He then went to the finals in each of the next three years but came up short each time. His most recent final round was 2008 when he was runner-up to Dave Connolly. This is Larry's 29th U.S. Nationals in Pro Stock. Allen Johnson has 30 round wins against Larry and that's the most for him against any driver he has faced. 26 of those have come in round one matchups.

Johnson had three thousandths in the bank at the green, ran the second-quickest ET of the round and lost. Morgan posted low ET of the round so far and led all the way from 60 fet to the stripe.

Larry Morgan's incremental margins: 60ft(0.010), 330 ft(0.012), 660ft(0.013), 1,000ft(0.013). MOV: 0.0155 seconds (approximately 5 feet).

Erica Enders was runner-up here in 2012. V. Gaines has been runner-up here twice, in 2013 and 1997. Enders holds a commanding 11-2 record against Gaines, 3-0 in round one.

Gaines had a small holeshot advantage at the green, but Enders led by the time they went 330 feet and stayed ahead the rest of the way, winning with the second-quickest ET so far. Morgan was a thousandth quicker and will have lane choice when the two race each other in round two.

Erica Enders' incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.006), 330 ft(0.004), 660ft(0.012), 1,000ft(0.018). MOV: 0.0218 seconds (approximately 7 feet).

Greg Anderson has 6 wins here and that is the most for any active Pro Stock driver. He is tied with Warren Johnson for second on the Pro Stock list behind Bob Glidden (9). This is the 4th time Greg has qualified #1 at Indy and in each of the three previous times he went on to win the event. Aaron's Stanfield's first race was here last year and he is making his fifth career start. He will be the 75th different driver that has raced Greg Anderson.

Updated weather conditions: air temperature 89 degrees, relative humidity 51 percent, barometer 29.14 inches, adjusted altitude 3,829 feet, track temperature 110 degrees.

Stanfield took too long to light the stage bulb and was timed out. Easy win for Anderson. He ran low ET of the round and will have lane choice against Butner in round two.

Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.772, 660ft-4.253/166.54 mph, 1,000ft-5.528.

Jonathan Gray and Vincent Nobile are both noted for their ability to "cut good lights." This is the eighth time they have faced each other and Nobile holds a 5-2 record in prior matchups, 5-1 in round one meetings.

Gray went red by a thousandth of a second and Nobile gets to race Line in round two. Line will have lane choice.

This is the first time Skillman and Laughlin have faced each other, not surprising since this is Laughlin's second start (his first was Sonoma this year) and Skillman's sixteenth. It is the first Indy start for both drivers.

Skillman had a nice holeshot and put the Gas Monkey Garage Camaro in the trailer. He ran the fourth quickest ET of the round and will have lane choice against Shane Gray in round two.

Drew Skillman's margins: 60ft(0.027), 330 ft(0.038), 660ft(0.045), 1,000ft(0.051). MOV: 0.0534 seconds (approximately 16 feet).
