Event Kicks Off the 2015 Professional Drag Racing Season

JUPITER, FL --

Palm Beach International Raceway™ (PBIR) is pleased to once again partner with the Professional Racers Owners Organization, Inc. (PRO) in hosting the fifth annual PRO Winter Warm-up presented by Bennett Auto Supply on January 16 and 17, 2015. The largest drag racing event in South Florida, PRO Winter Warm-up features professional drivers and race teams, testing and tuning Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars under the lights at PBIR's Drag Strip. With no points or purses on the line, the teams prepare for their 2015 racing season with performance tests and practice runs at PBIR.

Among the professional teams which are set to race at PBIR is Don Schumacher Racing, whose drivers Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher and Matt Hagan both earned a 2014 championship. Hagan earned his second Funny Car world championship, and the most successful Top Fuel driver in history, Schumacher clinched his record eighth drag racing championship.

"We are looking forward to another successful PRO Winter Warm-up at Palm Beach International Raceway," PRO president Alan Johnson said. "Finding a suitable facility at which to conduct pre-season testing in the middle of winter is not easy, and we are fortunate to be able to partner with PBIR in January to prepare for the upcoming drag racing season. We appreciate Dale Gann and his staff for their assistance in making the PRO Winter Warm-up possible."

Along with Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars, the event will also feature Jet Dragsters for the first time. An all-female team of five drivers, Larsen Motorsports will run their Jet Dragsters each evening. The drivers for Larsen Motorsports are Elaine Larsen, Marisha Falk, Allison West, Kat Moller and Shea Holbrook.

"PRO Winter Warm-up is our biggest event of the year at PBIR. There's nothing better than the excitement of a packed house enjoying the tremendous - and loud - spectacle generated by the Funny Cars and Top Fuel Dragsters," noted Dale Gann, Vice President and General Manager of PBIR. "And the addition of the fiery, 300 mph jet dragsters driven by women will add even more thrills."

Spectator tickets include full pit access so fans can be among the crew and drivers as they work on their vehicles - and even score an autograph from their favorite driver. Two-day spectator tickets for the PRO Winter Warm-up at PBIR are $50 for adults, $25 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and under. One-day tickets are also available. Gates open at 3 pm each day.
