Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 50th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.538/211.96, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.004/142.21, Was #16

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 50 percent, barometer 28.89 inches, adjusted altitude 2,641 feet, track temperature 86 degrees.

Nobile launched hard and keep it hooked up to get into the top half of the show. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.745, 660ft-4.213/167.78 mph, 1,000ft-5.475.


Left Lane: Joey Grose Runs 6.948/198.85, Now #17; Best prior run: 9.717/96.82, Was #17
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.601/209.39, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.868/167.32, Was #16

Grose with his quickest pass of the weekend will not get in the show. Stanfield improves on his pass from earlier today and moves up to the number 14 spot. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.758, 660ft-4.245/165.72 mph, 1,000ft-5.524.

Left Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.577/210.67, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.562/211.06, Was #11
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.547/211.89, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.848/160.75, Was #16

Hartford with another good pass, but gets bumped back one spot by Anderson. Anderson with his quickest pass of the weekend to get into the top half of the show. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.746, 660ft-4.217/167.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.482.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.551/210.87, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.550/211.36, Was #11
Right Lane: Jeff Isbell No Time, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.724/206.80, Was #16

Brogdon with another good pass, but will not improve. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.744, 660ft-4.217/167.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.483. Isbell starts drifting out of the groove and collects the 660 feet cones...

Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 9.326/95.92, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.548/210.70, Was #10
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.604/209.07, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.583/209.30, Was #14

McGaha drifts out of groove, but keeps it in his lane and clicks it off. Morgan will not improve and will stay 14th.

Left Lane: Jonathan Gray Runs 6.562/210.77, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.543/211.83, Was #7
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.585/210.44, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.577/211.43, Was #13

No help here for Gray and he will stay in the number seven position. Gaines will not improve and he will start Sunday from the number 13 spot.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.555/210.90, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.539/211.33, Was #6
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.558/211.16, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.547/211.73, Was #9

A couple good pass, but neither driver improves here and they will from the number six and nine positions. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.751, 660ft-4.221/167.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.487.
Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.750, 660ft-4.221/167.26 mph, 1,000ft-5.489.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.555/211.06, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.522/211.26, Was #2
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.555/211.23, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.534/211.89, Was #4

These two are glued together all the way down the track and neither driver improves. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.745, 660ft-4.218/167.20 mph, 1,000ft-5.486.
Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.746, 660ft-4.220/167.09 mph, 1,000ft-5.487.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.918/159.40, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.517/212.19, Was #1
Right Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.529/211.46, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.526/211.99, Was #3

Line pushes in the clutch early and coast through the 1320. Enders-Stevens with a great looking pass and she makes the quickest pass of the round and will gain three points, but Line will get two points back, so they will go into eliminations separated by 19 points. Erica Enders-Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.732, 660ft-4.199/167.72 mph, 1,000ft-5.463.
