POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 50th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Steve Faria Runs 8.152/71.09, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 57 percent, barometer 28.86 inches, adjusted altitude 2,533 feet, track temperature 90 degrees.

Faria lost traction right off the starting line and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Jenna Haddock Runs 4.816/151.14, Now #1
Right Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 7.459/74.50, Now #2

Haddock had a cylinder out right at the hit and then clicked it off around 330 feet. Chrisman with a lot of tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Dom Lagana Runs 3.927/286.19, Now #2
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.847/318.47, Now #1

Lagana with a cylinder out on the left side early and then around 800 feet there was a bang and the engine went silent. Torrence with a real nice pass to start the weekend...Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.174, 660ft-3.088/278.58 mph.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.819/272.34, Now #1
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.852/314.90, Now #3

Lucas was on a real nice looking pass until around 800 feet when it started mixing up cylinders and banged the blower. The car went silent, but he still goes to the number one spot. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.122, 660ft-3.013/285.35 mph. Buff with a good clean pass to start his weekend. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.163, 660ft-3.081/275.67 mph.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.786/324.83, Now #1
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.875/319.90, Now #5

Dixon launched hard and keep it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.143, 660ft-3.041/284.69 mph. McMillen with a good pass and then right in the lights there was a lot of engine smoke.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.867/312.64, Now #6
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.794/321.42, Now #2

Millican was straight down the groove with a good clean pass to get into the top half of the show. Vandergriff with a real nice pass to go to the number two spot right behind his former teammate. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.149, 660ft-3.041/282.54 mph.

Left Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 3.807/319.82, Now #3
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.883/261.37, Now #9

Crampton with a good pass early and then the engine starts mixing up cylinders on the top end. He still goes to the number three spot. Richie Crampton's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.158, 660ft-3.056/283.97 mph. Force was out in front of Crampton, but here car starting mixing up cylinders around half track. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.143, 660ft-3.045/279.90 mph.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 4.663/158.76, Now #12
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.786/315.34, Now #2

alBalooshi starts to lose traction and the pipes went wet before he clicked it off. Brown with a real nice pass, straight down Broadway and he ties Dixon with the quickest pass of the session, but will give up the position based on his slower speed. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.139, 660ft-3.027/284.81 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.803/324.83, Now #4
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.799/153.33, Now #14

Torrence was straight down the groove with hitting on all eight to go to the number four spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.162, 660ft-3.372/176.24 mph. Kalitta started to lose traction early and clicked it off by 330 feet.

Langdon started to lose traction early and clicked it off...Todd started to lose traction around half track and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 7.478/77.97, Now #20
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.795/323.81, Now #4

Massey is up in smoke early and clicks it off. Schumacher with a good clean pass, straight down the groove to go to the number four spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.142, 660ft-3.048/282.13 mph.
