POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 50th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 6.523/165.09, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Tony Bartone Runs 5.570/262.23, Now #1; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 62 percent, barometer 28.91 inches, adjusted altitude 2,422 feet, track temperature 85 degrees.

Westerfield with a lot of tire shake, but stayed with it to get in the show for now. Bartone launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Tony Bartone's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.506, 660ft-3.699/207.46 mph, 1,000ft-4.712.


Left Lane: John Lombardo Jr. Runs 5.565/265.27, Now #1; Best prior run: 16.123/48.30, Was #21
Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.583/263.00, Now #4; Best prior run: 16.242/40.20, Was #22

Lombardo Jr with a great looking pass to go to the number one spot. John Lombardo Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-1.004 sec., 330ft-2.538, 660ft-3.717/210.37 mph, 1,000ft-4.717. Payne with a real nice pass to get in the top half of the show. Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.966 sec., 330ft-2.515, 660ft-3.713/206.92 mph, 1,000ft-4.727.

Left Lane: Nick Januik Runs 7.605/127.45, Now #18; Best prior run: 15.035/49.61, Was #22
Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 10.481/82.22, Now #21; Best prior run: 11.061/77.28, Was #20

Januik with tire shake early and clicked it off. Whiteley with severe tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.912/250.37, Now #15; Best prior run: 11.805/79.94, Was #22
Right Lane: Greg Hunter Runs 5.695/255.97, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.238/143.22, Was #17

Hough made a quick move toward the centerline, but reeled it in to get in the show. Hunter with a good clean pass to get in the show. Greg Hunter's incremental times: 60ft-0.963 sec., 330ft-2.543, 660ft-3.772/202.09 mph, 1,000ft-4.815.

Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.912/254.81, Now #15; Best prior run: 9.794/88.25, Was #21
Right Lane: Terry Ruckman Runs 11.808/95.95, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.247/162.55, Was #16

Bellemeur with tire shake right at the hit and pedaled it and got it to hook up and get in the show. Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.701, 660ft-3.974/198.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.027. Ruckman was up in smoke right at he hit.

Left Lane: Ulf Leanders Runs 7.354/121.97, Now #20; Best prior run: 9.391/89.48, Was #21
Right Lane: John Cannuli No Time, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.872/244.29, Was #14

Leanders make quick move toward the centerline and clicked it off...Cannuli left before the tree was activated, and then had a lot of tire shake before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Mike Doushgounian Runs 5.563/261.72, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.505/115.08, Was #18
Right Lane: Todd Veney Runs 6.076/193.68, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.785/255.34, Was #11

Doushgounian launched hard and was straight down the groove with a great pass to go to the number one spot. Mike Doushgounian's incremental times: 60ft-0.964 sec., 330ft-2.499, 660ft-3.689/208.55 mph, 1,000ft-4.703. Veney drives through some tire shake early and will not improve. Todd Veney's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.626, 660ft-3.866/201.07 mph, 1,000ft-4.978.

Left Lane: Steve Harker Runs 5.544/262.13, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.864/246.93, Was #14
Right Lane: Bernie Harrington Runs 10.301/78.18, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.644/251.95, Was #9

Harker with a great looking pass as he launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Steve Harker's incremental times: 60ft-0.972 sec., 330ft-2.497, 660ft-3.680/209.65 mph, 1,000ft-4.689. Harrington with a lot of tire shake right off the starting line and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Hannes Wernhart Runs 5.693/252.05, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.818/218.41, Was #14
Right Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 9.517/129.21, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.634/261.42, Was #9

Wernhart was out of the groove early and got real close to the centerline, but doidn't cross to move up the ladder three spots. Hannes Wernhart's incremental times: 60ft-0.958 sec., 330ft-2.512, 660ft-3.744/200.02 mph, 1,000ft-4.801. Gasparrelli with a lot of tire shake right at the hit. and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bret Williamson Runs 5.732/247.57, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.766/248.07, Was #13
Right Lane: Kris Hool Runs 5.629/260.51, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.633/260.66, Was #8

Williamson was straight down the groove and improves, but will stay in the number 13 spot. Hool with areal nice looking pass and improves, but will stay in the number eight spot. Bret Williamson's incremental times: 60ft-0.962 sec., 330ft-2.540, 660ft-3.771/201.13 mph, 1,000ft-4.828.
Kris Hool's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.542, 660ft-3.742/207.43 mph, 1,000ft-4.764.

Left Lane: Jonnie Lindberg Runs 5.547/261.88, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.571/261.07, Was #5
Right Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.562/259.31, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.598/258.91, Was #7

This was a great side-by-side drag race as they go to the number two and three spots. This was great way to wrap this qualifying session. Jonnie Lindberg's incremental times: 60ft-0.963 sec., 330ft-2.494, 660ft-3.678/209.23 mph, 1,000ft-4.689.
Doug Gordon's incremental times: 60ft-0.940 sec., 330ft-2.467, 660ft-3.669/205.66 mph, 1,000ft-4.693.
