And Night of Champions at Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum

GLENDORA, Calif. -

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California will dedicate the Chrisman, Brinker Gallery of Speed, Nov. 15 during an historical evening at the museum which is located on the edge of the Los Angeles County Fairplex.

The "Night of Champions" will honor Art Chrisman, the legendary hot rod builder and drag racer, for his numerous contributions to the sport of drag racing. Chrisman, who was 29th on the list of the top 50 NHRA racers in 2001, will attend the star-studded event.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a public reception with a dinner to follow. Attending the dedication will be Don Garlits and many other legends of the sport that will take place during the 50th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

The Chrisman, Brinker Gallery of Speed brings to life the humble beginnings of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and how motorsports have impacted the world through innovation, engineering and design.

The Chrisman, Brinker Gallery of Speed features five new focal areas: the origins of hot rodding, landspeed racing, the early days of the NHRA and the influence of custom car design. The eye-opening exhibit offers a unique collection of historical vehicles, artifacts, interactive touchscreens, images, oral histories, life-sized sculptures designed by Weldon Exhibits and other memorabilia.

The exhibit is designed to be a fun learning experience sprinkled with hands-on activities and touchscreens focused on S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts and math). Visitors can customize their own hot rod, learn the 'language of hot rodding,' and listen to candid stories from NHRA Founder Wally Parks and other motorsports legends.

The stars of the Chrisman, Brinker Gallery of Speed are the vehicles that shaped the early days of racing. Making up the display is a 1932 Ford Deluxe 3-window coupe, a wonderful '32 Ford 3-window coupe under construction as a hot rod, a McMullen '32 Ford highboy roadster, the iconic Chrisman #25 dragster, the Albertson Olds dragster and the Beast III Bonneville streamliner.

Individual tickets for the 50 Years of Champions Celebration dinner and program are $100. Private table packages starting at $1,250 and can be purchased by contacting the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum.

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California, opened to the public April 4, 1998. Housed in a 28,500-square-foot building on the edge of the historic Los Angeles County Fairplex, the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum's mission is to celebrate the impact of motorsports on our culture. The facility collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets the vehicles, stories, and artifacts that represent the affection for, and the influence of, automotive speed and style in all its forms.
