Left Lane: Al Miles Runs 7.724/158.07, Now #4; Best prior run: 8.399/145.48, Was #7
Right Lane: Lloyd Stenerson Runs 8.088/162.12, Now #7; Best prior run: 8.657/153.58, Was #8

1:55 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 23 percent, barometer 27.96 inches, adjusted altitude 4,196 feet, track temperature 106 degrees.

Miles makes a good pass and moves into the fourth spot for now Stenerson improves and moves up a spot in the order.

Left Lane: Evan Barsness Runs 7.600/165.72, Now #4; Best prior run: 8.318/161.30, Was #8
Right Lane: Dan Ramage Runs 7.966/163.53, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.768/166.81, Was #5

Ramage drifted way to the left, getting close to the centerline about 1000 feet out, but he is able to stay on the throttle all the way through the run. Barsness goes right down the groove and moves all the way to the fourth spot.

Left Lane: David Larson Runs 8.068/155.47, Now #7; Best prior run: 8.005/152.40, Was #7
Right Lane: Janette Thornley Runs 7.489/170.71, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.508/170.11, Was #3

Thornley improves but stays in the third spot. Larson makes a clean pass but doesn't improve.

Right Lane: Johnny Vickers No Time, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.394/175.59, Was #2

Vickers gets out of the groove early and starts drifting to the left. He stays on the throttle, goes between the cones at the end of the track, and crosses the finish line in the wrong lane.
