LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 time trials in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Pacific Division, Short Line Express Market Gambler Shootout listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Derik Milanesio Runs 5.390/263.77, Now #1
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.494/256.84, Now #2

1:54 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 25 percent, barometer 28.10 inches, adjusted altitude 3,788 feet, track temperature 104 degrees.

The two alcohol sessions today will be time trials.

Milanesio goes right down the groove with a career best pass to start the session. Fricke makes a clean pass.

Right Lane: John Finke Runs 5.417/258.57, Now #2

Taliaferro has problems right off the line and clicks it off. Finke makes a clean pass.

Left Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 5.447/266.90, Now #3
Right Lane: Ross Stickler Runs 12.555/60.52, Now #6

Stickler rattles the tires at the hit, gets about sixty feet out and clicks it off. Strasburg made a clean pass.

Left Lane: Rishi Kanick Runs 7.396/126.05, Now #5
Right Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 9.850/82.59, Now #6

0 for 2 on this pair. Mercier gets about 200 feet out and backs out of the throttle, Kanick gets about 400 feet out and the engine goes silent.

Left Lane: Greg Sereda Runs 5.616/249.26, Now #5
Right Lane: Chase Copeland Runs 8.444/95.34, Now #7

Sereda makes a decent pass but the dragster starts smoking badly when he backs off the throttle. Copeland was off the throttle early.

Left Lane: Chris Demke Runs 6.724/138.91, Now #6
Right Lane: Fred Hanssen Runs 6.795/106.47, Now #7

Demke and Hanssen were on decent passes but were off the throttle early.
