Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 14th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: John Cannuli No Time, Now #20; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Bernie Harrington Runs 5.784/246.26, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.856/240.42, Was #19

Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 32 percent, barometer 27.67 inches, adjusted altitude 3,575 feet, track temperature 70 degrees.

Cannuli is out of the groove and tags the wall and that will be the end of his weekend. Harrington with his quickest pass of the weekend, but will not get in the show.

Right Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 5.771/255.34, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.740/253.66, Was #14

Bellemeur is straight down the groove and into the show. Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.972 sec., 330ft-2.586, 660ft-3.810/202.94 mph, 1,000ft-4.850. Westerfield with another good pass, but will not improve. Shane Westerfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.613, 660ft-3.849/201.31 mph, 1,000ft-4.890.

Left Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.705/253.85, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.770/252.19, Was #18
Right Lane: Kris Hool Runs 5.676/257.48, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.700/253.61, Was #13

Gordon with a real nice pass, straight down the groove, his quickest of the weekend to get in the show. Doug Gordon's incremental times: 60ft-0.969 sec., 330ft-2.552, 660ft-3.777/202.21 mph, 1,000ft-4.820.
Hool with his quickest pass of the weekend to move up the ladder one spot. Kris Hool's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.556, 660ft-3.769/204.98 mph, 1,000ft-4.802.

Left Lane: Greg Hunter Runs 8.342/108.06, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.754/253.18, Was #18
Right Lane: Jonnie Lindberg Runs 5.722/258.76, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.694/258.47, Was #13

Hunter with a lot of tire shake and he clicks it off. Lindberg with another good pass, but he will not improve. Jonnie Lindberg's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.529, 660ft-3.826/204.73 mph, 1,000ft-4.855.

Left Lane: Jirka Kaplan No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.753/256.45, Was #17
Right Lane: Nick Januik Runs 5.634/257.58, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.644/259.06, Was #10

Kaplan never got the car to fire and he will not get in the show. Januik with a real nice pass to move into the top half of the show. Nick Januik's incremental times: 60ft-0.957 sec., 330ft-2.517, 660ft-3.732/204.54 mph, 1,000ft-4.762.

Left Lane: Terry Ruckman Runs 26.697/27.01, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.665/257.28, Was #11
Right Lane: Mike Doushgounian Runs 11.314/69.44, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.644/260.26, Was #10

Ruckman with violent tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off. Doushgounian shook and shut it off.

Left Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 5.688/257.53, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.642/258.81, Was #9
Right Lane: Steve Harker Runs 10.599/78.61, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.597/262.28, Was #4

Gasparrelli with another good looking pass but he will not improve. Steve Gasparrelli's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.564, 660ft-3.781/204.66 mph, 1,000ft-4.814. Harker with tire shake and he shut it off.

Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.620/259.26, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.631/260.61, Was #7
Right Lane: Brian Hough Runs 9.376/108.24, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.620/255.77, Was #6

Payne launched hard and keep it hooked up to make his quickest pass of the weekend and move up the ladder one spot. Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.957 sec., 330ft-2.513, 660ft-3.726/204.29 mph, 1,000ft-4.753. Hough with tire shake and clicked it off.

Left Lane: John Lombardo Jr. Runs 5.550/261.12, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.600/260.01, Was #5
Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 10.984/75.65, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.551/260.71, Was #2

Lombardo Jr. Launched hard and keep it hitting on all eight and hooked up to go to the number one spot. John Lombardo Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.949 sec., 330ft-2.490, 660ft-3.679/208.33 mph, 1,000ft-4.689. Whiteley with a lot of tire shake and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Tony Bartone Runs 5.632/259.31, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.595/260.26, Was #4
Right Lane: Ulf Leanders No Time, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.551/263.67, Was #2

Bartone made a quick move toward the centerline and tiptoe down the centerline before he reeled it in. He made another good pass, but didn't improve. Tony Bartone's incremental times: 60ft-99.999 sec., 330ft-99.999, 660ft-99.999/000.00 mph, 1,000ft-99.999. Leanders left before the tree was activated and will not get a time.
