Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 14th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.854/319.90, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.094/140.68, Was #19
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.790/320.89, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.902/110.72, Was #21

Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 30 percent, barometer 27.66 inches, adjusted altitude 3,662 feet, track temperature 78 degrees.

Millican with his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.867 sec., 330ft-2.202, 660ft-3.101/282.30 mph. Brown launched hard and keep it hooked to get into the top half of the show. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.159, 660ft-3.044/286.74 mph.


Left Lane: Steven Chrisman No Time, Now #22; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.885/313.73, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.196/132.52, Was #21

Chrisman with problems after the burnout and he was shut off. Buff with a good pass, but not quick enough to get in the show. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.873 sec., 330ft-2.192, 660ft-3.115/275.39 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Faria Runs 8.446/72.04, Now #21; Best prior run: 4.021/254.71, Was #20
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.805/325.37, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.682/280.25, Was #21

Faria is up in smoke early and clicked it off. Force with a great looking pass, straight down the groove to get in the show. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.156, 660ft-3.061/283.49 mph.

Left Lane: Noah Stutz Runs 3.876/315.19, Now #19; Best prior run: 3.924/278.86, Was #20
Right Lane: Kebin Kinsley Runs 3.850/316.97, Now #17; Best prior run: 3.901/316.75, Was #19

Stutz with a great pass, but just misses getting in the show. Noah Stutz's incremental times: 60ft-0.858 sec., 330ft-2.192, 660ft-3.110/276.52 mph. Kinsley with his career quickest and fastest pass in his short Top Fuel career and he will just miss getting into the show. Kebin Kinsley's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.179, 660ft-3.087/278.35 mph. The field is now set and this field has the quickest bump spot in NHRA Top Fuel history.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.781/320.36, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.808/319.22, Was #13
Right Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 3.920/290.57, Now #16; Best prior run: 3.835/316.15, Was #16

alBalooshi with a great looking pass to get into the top half of the show. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.145, 660ft-3.033/284.09 mph. Zizzo with another good pass, but will not improve and will start Sunday from the number 16 spot.

Left Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 3.755/319.29, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.806/317.42, Was #13
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 6.208/88.79, Now #15; Best prior run: 3.827/323.04, Was #15

Pritchett launched hard and keep it hooked up and hitting on all eight to make her career quickest pass to go to the number two spot. Leah Pritchett's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.122, 660ft-3.005/285.17 mph. McMillen started mixing up cylinders and then the engine let go with a huge engine explosion and fireball. McMillen will start Sunday from the number 15 spot.

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.732/327.43, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.798/319.52, Was #11
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.791/326.63, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.809/326.24, Was #14

Todd launches hard and has the big header flames shooting high over the rear wing and keeps it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Todd runs his career quickest and fastest pass...J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.117, 660ft-2.996/288.70 mph. Torrence with a great pass as he runs his career quickest and fastest pass and moves up to the number 11 spot. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.158, 660ft-3.051/285.35 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 8.261/82.78, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.787/301.81, Was #9
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.744/330.39, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.802/325.45, Was #13

Langdon starts to rattle the tires early and clicks it off. Massey launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number two spot. He runs his career quickest and fastest pass...Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.137, 660ft-3.013/289.94 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.747/317.34, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.772/322.81, Was #8
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.487/172.08, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.793/320.05, Was #13

Kalitta with a great pass to move up to the number three spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.129, 660ft-3.000/289.51 mph. Vandergriff started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 18.580/43.70, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.766/326.71, Was #8
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.760/327.66, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.760/327.59, Was #7

Dixon with a huge engine explosion right at the hit. torrence with another great pass, matching his qualifying time from earlier today and he will stay in the number seven spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.137, 660ft-3.024/287.17 mph.

Left Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 3.762/323.97, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.748/325.14, Was #4
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.754/329.18, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.759/330.55, Was #6

This was a great side-by-side drag race, but Crampton with another great pass, ut will not improve. Richie Crampton's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.150, 660ft-3.024/291.51 mph. Schumacher with his quickest pass of the weekend and will move up the ladder one spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.136, 660ft-3.020/288.27 mph.
