Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 14th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Rhett Lougheed Runs 7.161/188.38, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.114/190.75, Was #19
Right Lane: Redell Harris Runs 16.042/68.19, Now #22; Best prior run: 9.334/95.75, Was #22

4:05 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 30 percent, barometer 27.66 inches, adjusted altitude 3,710 feet, track temperature 82 degrees.

Harris' bike struggles off the line and he clicks it off early. Lougheed makes a clean pass but slows from his earlier attempt.


Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.062/189.26, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.073/189.60, Was #18
Right Lane: Lance Bonham Runs 8.315/174.05, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.891/171.75, Was #21

Berry improves but not enough to get in the field. Bonham has problems and doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Elvira Karlsson Runs 7.037/188.62, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.050/188.67, Was #17
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena No Time, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.835/126.40, Was #20

Camarena's bike cut off as he was staging and he does not make a pass. Karlsson makes her quickest pass of the weekend and gets in the field on the bump, knocking out Hall who is in the next pair.

Left Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 7.076/185.21, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.027/189.68, Was #15
Right Lane: John Hall Runs 7.036/190.92, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.039/189.36, Was #17

Hall gets back. he goes right down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend and knocks out Karlsson. Pollacheck makes a decent pass but loses part of the body of the bike as he goes through the lights.

Right Lane: Adam Arana Runs 6.979/193.68, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.016/192.08, Was #14

Gann was scheduled to run in the left lane but decided not to make a pass. Arana makes his quickest pass of the weekend and moves up to the 11th spot.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 13.632/32.93, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.972/191.62, Was #10
Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.029/189.76, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.996/190.14, Was #14

Johnson has problems early and backed off the throttle. Underdahl made a clean pass but slowed from his earlier attempt.

Left Lane: Chaz Kennedy Runs 6.979/189.23, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.967/192.06, Was #9
Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.990/194.41, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.989/194.07, Was #13

Two pretty good runs but neither improves.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.951/194.07, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.941/193.74, Was #6
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.976/191.38, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.960/193.27, Was #8

Same as the last pair, both with decent passes but neither improve.

Left Lane: Katie Sullivan Runs 6.941/191.89, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.935/192.49, Was #5
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.930/194.41, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.946/192.55, Was #7

Savoie goes right down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up to the fifth spot.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.893/192.88, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.918/193.60, Was #4
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.856/194.38, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.909/193.93, Was #3

Hines goes right down the groove with the quickest pass of the weekend so far to take the top spot with one pair left. Krawiec improves and gets in just behind Hines.

Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.883/195.79, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.883/195.79, Was #3
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.882/195.76, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.882/195.76, Was #2

Ray is riding his own bike this weekend with an engine he has leased from Matt Smith.

Smith and Ray both make their quickest passes of the weekend. Ray will start in the third spot, Smith from the second.
