Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #3

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 14th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Kebin Kinsley Runs 3.901/316.75, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Steven Chrisman No Time, Now #22; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 70 degrees, relative humidity 32 percent, barometer 27.66 inches, adjusted altitude 3,792 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

Kinsley launched hard and keeps it hooked up to make his career quickest and fastest pass in Top Fuel. Kebin Kinsley's incremental times: 60ft-0.876 sec., 330ft-2.213, 660ft-3.136/275.39 mph. Chrisman Was leaking after the burnout and was shut off.


Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.760/327.59, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.820/323.04, Was #9
Right Lane: Steve Faria Runs 4.021/254.71, Now #14; No Prior Run

Torrence launched hard and keep it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.137, 660ft-3.025/287.17 mph. Faria with his quickest pass of the weekend of the weekend to get a number on the board.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.759/330.55, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.784/326.63, Was #5
Right Lane: Noah Stutz Runs 3.924/278.86, Now #14; No Prior Run

Schumacher with a great pass to go to the number one runs the fastest pass here at The Strip to set the track speed record. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.148, 660ft-3.028/290.01 mph. Stutz with a real nice pass to make his quickest pass of the weekend to get a number on the board.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.827/323.04, Now #11; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 5.094/140.68, Now #17; No Prior Run

McMillen with good clean pass and his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. Millican started to haze the tires just past the 330-foot mark.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.793/320.05, Now #7; No Prior Run
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.798/319.52, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.833/322.58, Was #12

These guys were side-by-side all the way down the track to get into the top half of the show. Vandergriff with his quickest pass of the weekend to go to the number seven spot. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.144, 660ft-3.043/283.91 mph. Todd with his quickest pass of the weekend to go to the number eight spot. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.150, 660ft-3.046/283.85 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 5.902/110.72, Now #19; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.808/319.22, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.824/304.12, Was #12

Brown was up in smoke around 200 feet and clicked it off and will be down to one shot to get in the show. alBalooshi with his quickest pass of the weekend to move up the ladder one spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.174, 660ft-3.063/286.25 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 4.682/280.25, Now #18; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 3.887/250.13, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.806/317.42, Was #10

Force starts to haze the tires and she pedals it, but can't get it to hook up and she will be down to her last shot to get in the show. Pritchett was on a great pass until just past the 1/8 mile mark when the pipes went wet and the car went silent. She will stay in the number ten spot.

Left Lane: Troy Buff Runs 5.196/132.52, Now #20; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.852/303.84, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.787/301.81, Was #6

Buff starts to lose traction and clicks it off. Langdon with another great pass, but he will not improve. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.062/275.39 mph.

Left Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 3.890/270.75, Now #14; Best prior run: 3.835/316.15, Was #14
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 5.498/127.40, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.772/322.81, Was #5

Zizzo was on a good pass until he slowed on the top end. T.J. Zizzo's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.173, 660ft-3.080/280.19 mph. Kalitta starts to lose traction early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 5.151/139.95, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.809/326.24, Was #12
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 9.197/77.99, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.766/326.71, Was #4

Torrence starts to lose traction and clicks it off. Dixon is up in smoke right at the hit.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.921/306.40, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.802/325.45, Was #9
Right Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 3.748/325.14, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.764/322.42, Was #3

Massey with a clean pass, but will not improve. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.890 sec., 330ft-2.227, 660ft-3.147/276.29 mph. Crampton launched hard and he keeps it hooked up and goes back to the number one spot. Richie Crampton's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.138, 660ft-3.012/290.88 mph.
