MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 30th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Tyler Scott Runs 10.712/80.63, Now #1

Scott with a lot of tire shake and pedaled it and then shook again and got out of the groove, before he lifted.

Left Lane: John Headley Runs 6.396/198.20, Now #1
Right Lane: John Fiorini Runs 6.683/183.42, Now #2

Headley was out of the groove and close to the centerline, and clicked it off early. Fiorini shook and pedaled it.

Left Lane: Marie Ferriolo Runs 5.962/190.70, Now #2
Right Lane: DJ Cox Jr. Runs 5.725/250.97, Now #1

Ferriolo shook and pedaled it. Cox with a good pass, straight down the groove.

Left Lane: Todd Robertson Runs 13.943/60.60, Now #7
Right Lane: Tony Bogolo Runs 5.959/245.94, Now #2

Robertson with violent tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off. Bogolo with a clean pass.

Left Lane: Matt Gill Runs 5.613/259.16, Now #1
Right Lane: Paul Noakes Runs 5.909/251.39, Now #3

Gill started drifting out of the groove early but reeled it in to go to the top of the list. Noakes with tire shake right at the hit and pedaled it.

Left Lane: Tony Bartone No Time, Now #11
Right Lane: Fred Tigges No Time, Now #10

Barton with issues after the burnout and is shut off. Tigges is out of the groove and collects the finish line timing cones.

Left Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 8.076/116.83, Now #9
Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.648/256.21, Now #2

Ferro with a lot of tire shake and clicked it off. Bellemeur was straight down the groove with a nice pass to go to the number two spot.

Left Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.838/199.73, Now #5
Right Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.645/256.31, Now #2

Veney was on a good looking pass and then it nosed over on the top end. Pomponio was straight down the groove to go to the number two spot.

Left Lane: John Lombardo Jr. Runs 5.609/260.61, Now #2
Right Lane: Clint Thompson Runs 5.600/254.95, Now #1

This was a great side-by-side drag race as these two go straight down the track and into the number one and two spots. John Lombardo Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.533, 660ft-3.731/207.53 mph, 1,000ft-4.748.
Clint Thompson's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.518, 660ft-3.714/207.78 mph, 1,000ft-4.732.

Left Lane: Dale Brand Runs 5.590/261.47, Now #2
Right Lane: Steve Harker Runs 5.558/255.97, Now #1

Brand with a real nice pass, just a little wiggle around half track, but still goes to the number two spot behind Harker. Dale Brand's incremental times: 60ft-0.968 sec., 330ft-2.509, 660ft-3.711/206.26 mph, 1,000ft-4.731. Harker launched hard and was straight down the groove with a great pass to go to the number one spot. Steve Harker's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.497, 660ft-3.685/208.94 mph, 1,000ft-4.698.
