CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 30th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 5.033/140.78, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.813/83.91, Was #15
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.758/321.96, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.080/100.52, Was #11

Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 18 percent, barometer 28.66 inches, adjusted altitude 3,157 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.

alBalooshi was drooping some cylinders and then started to haze the tires before he clicked it off. Torrence launched hard and keep it hitting on all eight to run his career quickest pass to move to the number one spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.820 sec., 330ft-2.112, 660ft-3.008/283.13 mph.


Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 10.201/78.44, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.709/86.42, Was #15
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.772/322.58, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.366/124.58, Was #12

Massey is up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off. Vandergriff with a great looking pass, straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.821 sec., 330ft-2.125, 660ft-3.020/282.30 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.847/313.15, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.132/105.05, Was #14
Right Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 4.332/245.45, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.330/194.04, Was #11

Millican with a good clean pass to get into the top half of the show. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.166, 660ft-3.078/277.32 mph. Crampton is up in smoke early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.793/316.75, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.099/105.44, Was #14
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 7.129/87.84, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.091/216.86, Was #10

Brown with the third quickest 60-foot time of the session and keeps it hooked up to go to the number three spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.145, 660ft-3.036/283.85 mph. Schumacher was up in smoke by 330 feet and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 4.509/173.12, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.160/225.75, Was #12
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.777/320.28, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.951/257.63, Was #9

McMillen started to lose traction just past half track and clicked it off. Grubnic was straight down Broadway with a great looking pass to go the number three spot. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.824 sec., 330ft-2.137, 660ft-3.029/284.99 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 8.087/71.51, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.845/281.07, Was #7
Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 3.810/318.54, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.883/290.07, Was #9

Langdon was up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off. Pritchett launched hard and keep it hooked up to run her career quickest pass to get into the top half of the show. Leah Pritchett's incremental times: 60ft-0.830 sec., 330ft-2.156, 660ft-3.056/283.01 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.814/317.19, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.839/320.74, Was #7
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.735/327.74, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.792/323.27, Was #4

Force with another good looking pass, but will stay in the number seven spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.829 sec., 330ft-2.148, 660ft-3.059/281.71 mph. Kalitta with a great looking pass to take the back the number one spot. Just a couple ticks off his track E.T. record and he runs the fastest pass of the event. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.122, 660ft-3.000/288.64 mph.
