CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 30th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Paul Pittman Runs 6.732/198.03, Now #17; Best prior run: 17.625/45.83, Was #17
Right Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 20.360/48.87, Now #18; Best prior run: 17.683/46.18, Was #18

Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 15 percent, barometer 28.68 inches, adjusted altitude 3,080 feet, track temperature 96 degrees.

Pittman makes a full pass, but will not get in the show. Kramer with a lot of tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.


Left Lane: Shane Tucker Runs 6.622/208.59, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.647/208.68, Was #15
Right Lane: Steve Kent Runs 8.214/109.69, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.681/208.17, Was #16

Tucker made a move in the right direction, but not quick enough to get into the top 12. Kent started to drift out of the groove and got real close to the centerline before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Jimmy Alund Runs 12.195/71.38, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.599/210.54, Was #11
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.642/208.39, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.628/209.56, Was #15

Alund make a quick move toward the centerline and clicked it off. Morgan with a full pass, but will not improve and will start new tomorrow.

Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.565/210.77, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.572/211.03, Was #7
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.599/209.39, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.620/208.42, Was #13

this was a good side-by-side drag race as both driver improve. Connolly will stay in the number seven spot. Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.752, 660ft-4.223/167.68 mph, 1,000ft-5.491. Stanfield gets into the show for now. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.968 sec., 330ft-2.751, 660ft-4.238/165.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.517.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.553/211.83, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.562/211.53, Was #6
Right Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.613/209.69, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.615/208.97, Was #13

Johnson with his quickest pass of the day and the fastest pass of the event. He will stay in the number six spot. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.752, 660ft-4.220/167.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.484. Hartford with a slight improvement, but not enough to get back in the show and will start over tomorrow. Matt Hartford's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.765, 660ft-4.253/165.58 mph, 1,000ft-5.533.

Left Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.569/210.77, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.551/211.16, Was #4
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 11.980/73.51, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.598/211.43, Was #10

Nobile with another good pass, the third quickest of the session, but he will not improve. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.750, 660ft-4.224/167.30 mph, 1,000ft-5.494. Coughlin with a quick move toward the wall and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.544/211.83, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.536/211.69, Was #3
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.677/209.75, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.579/210.21, Was #9

Line with the quickest 60-foot time of the session and the quickest pass of the round, but he will not improve. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.744, 660ft-4.212/168.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.475. Gaines was out of the groove early, but reeled it in and he will not improve. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-1.011 sec., 330ft-2.836, 660ft-4.326/166.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.600.

Left Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.531/211.23, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.534/211.66, Was #2
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.585/210.73, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.573/209.98, Was #8

Enders-Stevens with the quickest 60-foot time and the quickest pass of the round to just miss getting the number one spot. Erica Enders-Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.730, 660ft-4.195/168.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.459. Brogdon with another good looking pass, but will not improve and he will stay in the number eight spot. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.763, 660ft-4.240/166.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.511.

Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.560/210.64, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.530/210.60, Was #1
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 20.259/38.83, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.551/211.06, Was #5

McGaha will hold on to the number one spot, but will not improve with this pass, the fourth quickest of the round. Chris McGaha's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.746, 660ft-4.216/167.18 mph, 1,000ft-5.487. Gray with a lot of tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off. He coasted on through the 1320.
