CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 30th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.681/208.17, Now #1
Right Lane: Paul Pittman Runs 17.625/45.83, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 17 percent, barometer 28.75 inches, adjusted altitude 2,774 feet, track temperature 96 degrees.

Kent making his first pass in competition this year. Kent with a nice pass, straight down the groove. Pittman launched with the front end in the air and then made a quick move toward the wall before he clicked it off.


Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.620/208.42, Now #1
Right Lane: Shane Tucker Runs 6.647/208.68, Now #2

Stanfield with a good pass to start the weekend. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.253/166.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.534. It appeared Tucker might of been rolling a little when the light turned green, but still makes a good pass. Shane Tucker's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.796, 660ft-4.282/166.05 mph, 1,000ft-5.563.

Left Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.615/208.97, Now #2
Right Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.530/210.60, Now #1

Hartford with a nice pass...Matt Hartford's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.770, 660ft-4.255/166.09 mph, 1,000ft-5.533. McGaha with the quickest short time so far and parlays that into a great looking pass to go to the number one spot. Chris McGaha's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.733, 660ft-4.199/168.20 mph, 1,000ft-5.460.

Left Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 17.683/46.18, Now #8
Right Lane: Jimmy Alund Runs 6.599/210.54, Now #2

Kramer shook hard right at the hit and clicked it off. Alund started moving out of the groove, but stayed with it to go to the number two spot. Jimmy Alund's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.775, 660ft-4.255/166.74 mph, 1,000ft-5.525.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.573/209.98, Now #3
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.562/211.53, Now #2

Brogdon with a great looking pass to go to the number three spot. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.748, 660ft-4.223/167.03 mph, 1,000ft-5.495. Johnson goes to the number two spot and runs the fastest pass of the round. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.760, 660ft-4.229/167.80 mph, 1,000ft-5.493.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.628/209.56, Now #8
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.572/211.03, Now #3

Morgan goes to the number eight spot...Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.790, 660ft-4.274/166.23 mph, 1,000ft-5.549. Connolly with a great looking pass to go to the number three spot. Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.756, 660ft-4.230/167.26 mph, 1,000ft-5.499.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.598/211.43, Now #6
Right Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.534/211.66, Now #2

coughlin gets into the top half of the show. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.782, 660ft-4.258/167.22 mph, 1,000ft-5.526. Enders-Stevens the defending event champion launched hard with a great looking pass to go to the number two spot. Erica Enders-Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.735, 660ft-4.202/168.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.465.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.551/211.06, Now #4
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.551/211.16, Now #3

These two run identical E.T.s for th the number three and four spots with Nobile getting the higher qualified spot base on his faster speed. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.741, 660ft-4.213/167.66 mph, 1,000ft-5.479.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.579/210.21, Now #9
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.536/211.69, Now #3

Gaines with a good looking pass to start the weekend. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.238/167.38 mph, 1,000ft-5.505. Line with the quickest 60-foot time of the round and goes to the number three spot and runs the fastest pass of the round. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.965 sec., 330ft-2.734, 660ft-4.203/167.80 mph, 1,000ft-5.467.
