Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 54th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 13.062/68.07, Now #19; Best prior run: 12.623/70.60, Was #19
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.808/322.73, Now #7; Best prior run: 9.362/71.13, Was #18

Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 63 percent, barometer 29.02 inches, adjusted altitude 1,647 feet.

Chrisman started to lose traction as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Schumacher with a good pass to get in the show. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.163, 660ft-3.059/283.19 mph.


Left Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 8.582/89.46, Now #17; Best prior run: 9.286/71.65, Was #18
Right Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 13.783/26.69, Now #16; Best prior run: 8.246/94.55, Was #16

Crampton lost traction right at the hit and he pedaled it, but lost traction again. Palmer lost traction early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.084/249.76, Now #14; Best prior run: 8.664/79.82, Was #18
Right Lane: Steve Faria Runs 9.617/65.56, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.441/81.87, Was #15

Millican with tire shake right at the hit and pedaled it and got it to hook back up, but will not get in the show. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.264, 660ft-3.215/270.75 mph. Faria loses traction right at the hit and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 7.897/72.19, Now #14; Best prior run: 3.916/279.15, Was #13
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.775/321.50, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.715/82.59, Was #15

Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 63 percent, barometer 29.02 inches, adjusted altitude 1,647 feet, track temperature 63 degrees.

Force with a new chassis and the canopy back on the car. She shook right at the hit and clicked it off. Massey launched hard and keep it hooked up and was straight down the groove to go to the number three spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.128, 660ft-3.023/283.37 mph.

Right Lane: Sidnei Frigo Runs 3.915/312.57, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.899/307.02, Was #13

Pritchett with another good looking pass matching her E.T. from the earlier round today. She will stay in the number 10 spot. Leah Pritchett's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.180, 660ft-3.089/280.78 mph. Frigo with another good looking pass, but won't get in the show. Sidnei Frigo's incremental times: 60ft-0.881 sec., 330ft-2.216, 660ft-3.140/273.94 mph.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 12.584/65.77, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.788/322.73, Was #5
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 8.425/73.05, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.863/322.58, Was #11

alBalooshi lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off. McMillen lost traction early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 7.960/81.60, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.781/324.05, Was #4
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 6.005/102.25, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.830/321.96, Was #9

Torrence lost traction early and clicked it off. Grubnic lost traction by 300 feet and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.753/327.19, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.756/328.38, Was #2
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.761/322.58, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.802/316.15, Was #7

This was a great side-by-side drag race. Kalitta with another great pass, but will stay in the number two spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.828 sec., 330ft-2.136, 660ft-3.015/287.90 mph. Vandergriff was right there with him to go to the number three spot. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.130, 660ft-3.015/286.32 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 7.236/88.79, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.746/328.70, Was #1
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.731/326.00, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.798/318.17, Was #7

Langdon started to lose traction early and clicked it off. Brown launched hard and had the header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.120, 660ft-2.993/289.38 mph.
