BROWNSBURG, Ind. -- Team Veteran crew chief Rob Flynn has joined Don Schumacher Racing to lead the Valvoline/MTS Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car driven by 2012 NHRA world champion Jack Beckman.

Flynn was on the job Monday morning at DSR headquarters near Indianapolis.

"It was one of the best birthdays I've ever had," Flynn said, referring to the opportunity Schumacher presented last Wednesday on his 54th birthday.

"I know we can come here and be successful right away," he said. "There are so many crew chiefs here and they all work together."

Flynn is paired with Beckman's assistant crew chief Terry Snyder, who Flynn hired in 1999 while serving as crew chief for Del Worsham's Funny Car.

Flynn has lived in the Indianapolis suburb of Avon for 20 years. He and his wife of 23 years Michelle, have a daughter, Stacy, 17, and a son, Paul, 15.
