Severance's car jumped up at the hit and smoked the tires. Bateman struggled on the top end, with lots of raw fuel in the air.

Probably the two best blown dragster in the class squared off and Demke led all the way until there was a BANG and a flash of flame about 1,000 feet down the track. That let Whiteley go by and he will have lane choice against Bateman in the final round.

Jim Whiteley's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.044), 330 ft(-0.022), 660ft(-0.015), 1,000ft(0.005). MOV: 0.1577 seconds (approximately 49 feet).
