MADISON, Ill. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Second annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Daniel Wilkerson Runs 4.336/287.47, Now #1

3:59 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 88 degrees, relative humidity 37 percent, barometer 29.57 inches, adjusted altitude 2,931 feet, track temperature 107 degrees.

this is Wilkerson's first race since Norwalk of 2012.

Wilkerson was moving around all the way through the run but stayed on the throttle and made a clean pass.

Left Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 6.868/103.27, Now #3
Right Lane: Chad Head Runs 6.539/98.01, Now #2

Creasy and Head get about 150 feet out and go up in smoke at almost the same time. Neither driver pedals and they coast through the lights.

Right Lane: Jeff Arend Runs 6.236/106.40, Now #2

Arend gets about 200 feet out and goes up in smoke.

Left Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 4.294/242.02, Now #1
Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 4.619/188.20, Now #3

DeJoria was on a pretty good pass, then starts to lose traction about 800 feet out. She backs off the throttle but still is able to take the top spot for now. Tasca gets about 600 feet out, strikes the tires and backs off the throttle.

Left Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.593/192.30, Now #3
Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.658/183.92, Now #5

Wilkerson gets about 500 feet and strikes the tires. he makes a hard move to the right and backs off the throttle quickly. Worsham gets about 700 feet out and loses traction.

Left Lane: Courtney Force Runs 4.127/310.20, Now #1
Right Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 4.475/201.73, Now #4

Gray gets about 600 feet out and goes up in smoke. Force makes a complete pass and moves to the top spot with a good run for the conditions.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.144/303.84, Now #3
Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.113/310.41, Now #1

Capps and Beckman go right down the groove with the first clean pair of the session. Beckman moves ahead of Courtney Force into the top spot, Capps just behind her in the third spot.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 6.108/112.22, Now #11
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 5.323/143.05, Now #10

Force and Hight get about 300 feet out and go up in smoke. Hight tries to regain traction but has to give up on the run.

Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.151/303.30, Now #5
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.112/307.93, Now #1

Hagan makes an impressive pass and moves into the top spot to end this session. Pedregon makes a clean pass and will be in the fifth spot.
